Stressed Out in Seattle

Hi!
I'm an Aquarian with the open, idealistic and playful mind of a twenty something, in an older body (with the appropriate amount of cynacism that age brings, of course). I'm artistic, enjoy music (including the Dropkick Murphys and Harvey Danger.) I enjoy the outdoors and would have made a great Druid (minus the sacrifices.) Did I mention ADD? I usually have a open, relaxed, combination Zen and leftist outlook on life (a remainder of my old hippie ways).

I have a wonderful 20 yr. old daughter I love very much. She is intelligent, insightful, and a gifted writter with a great sense of humor. She is somewhere on the tail end of the autistic spectrum, somewhat ASPYish, and deals with anxiety and depression because of her wireing issues. She is a lot of fun to be with (really!)
After many years of stressful jobs and no vacations, etc, I totally, literasly burned out. Luckily, due to the poor economy my hours at work were dramatically cut. This gave me the opportunity to collect partial unemployment and return to school for a 1yr program which will mesh with my profession and improve my chances of getting a better job. By the time the course is over the economy should have improved enough so that there will be more openings in my area. Hopoefully I will be the correct weight by then and somewhat destressed.
I alsowant to spend more time getting back in tune with nature, as not being so has been a large part of my problem. Going from Idealistic hippie to responsible parent, a professional, the "breadwinner" with a old house (in need of much repair), has been difficult to juggle with the need to be outdoors and out of the city on a semi-regular basis. Being the single parent of a special needs daughter, while trying to keep my mortgage paid an my car on the road during the the previous regime (Bush and Cheney Crime Family) has not been easy.
I feel lucky (in a wierd way), due to the current economy my hours at work have been drasticaly cut. Yes, this is a good thing! I'm on unemployment while working part time. I may also be approved for worker retraining, which will allow me to take a credit program that will fit nicely with my current profession. What more can anyone who is compleatly burned out ask for? Some time off and the opportunity to exercise my mind, while advancing my job skills sounds wonderful (as does use of the college gym!) My last oportunity to have some time off was when someone totaled my vehicle, with me in it. I really do need some time off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I do want to be in good health both physically and mentally and this seems like a good place to start.

My Goals:
loose weight, get healthy, spend more time gettting grounded in nature (Mother Earth.)
Position myself so that my daughter will be self-sufficient and I will be able to do some traveling.

My Program:
Cutting down on the junk food, eating more fresh food and veges, (a healthier diet). Less food intake. Going for a walk daily. And now I've begun going to the gym.

Personal Information:
I've lived in Seattle for around 35 years. I lived on the east coast, in the west and midwest, San Francisco, and Canada.
Was a hippie in the Haight "back in the day."
I love animals and have 2 cats of my own, several neighborhood cats who hang out in my yard and believe I should feed them daily. I live in a greenbelt with a wetland close by. Because of this I also feed a family of racoons and a lame possum. The animals all get along together, they sort of ignore each other and pretend they're not there ,as opposed to fighting with each other.
In the past I did woodworking in a mill shop that specalized in Victorian restoration,
and had a small side crafts business making wooden childrens toys.
I paint and like to play around with sculpture. I very much want to learn welding in order to do metal sculpture.
I love to garden when I have the time and energy. I worked with my best friend
who had a landscaping business for a while.

Other Information:
I also want to learn to work in crete and add gothic touches to my property, gargoyles and such.

Hi Linda. I went to Cleveland for an energy working conferency thingy. Had fun. Then went camping the next weekend. Didn't work out so well, lol. It literally rained 25 of the 28 hours we were there, the tent leaked and got everything that wasn't already wet wet, and it was only in the low 60s. We gave up and went home, lol. Not planning on any summer classes because I'm still straightening out the health issues right now. Hope you had a great weekend. :)
