I'm Amy. I am 42 and about to move into a phase of life where I can't afford health insurance. So, staying healthy is going to be 100% in my own hands. Exercise and nutrition with an aim to proper weight is all I have.

At 36, I was 272 lbs. I lost more than 80 lbs and only saw a regain of about 15. Maintenance is fairly easy, but incorporating exercise into my lifestyle on a consistent basis is a challenge.

When I first achieved readiness to lose weight, I started by just cutting calories, and that did help me make a lot of progress. Exercise was only part of my lifestyle through walking (the walking I had to do between car and office, about 15 minutes/day on work days) and gardening.

In 2008, I bought a bike for commuting to work, about 30-35 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes in the evening if it isn't too hot or windy (I have the option of taking the bus home when it is), and this is one of the options I take for working cardio into my day. For home cardio I enjoy gardening, touring the neighborhood by foot or bike, or a cardio DVD. When summer heat is at its worst, I have enjoyed running in the cool of the morning right at dawn.

I love Coach Nicole and her 10-minute workout videos. In August 2008 I started her 7-day bootcamp series and decided to make it part of my morning ritual. My best routine is getting up in the morning and doing 10-20 minutes of strength training before I start my day. The decision to do these exercises *every day* before work is more effective than anything else!

In January 2009 I joined Coach Nicole's New You Bootcamp and added cardio 4 days per week. I stayed pretty consistent with that for a few months until some work responsibilities and illness derailed the habit. My weight loss truly accellerated while I was pursuing that much cardio, so it's important to reaching my goals that I get back to it and stay with it.

--Earn 20-50 Spark points every day

--Use the fitness tracker daily

--Track nutrition for two full weeks starting any day I notice the scale creeping in the wrong direction
