I'm currently participating in the BLC as a LOVELY LIME! Our spring challenge is Spring It On and I'm trying to find some ways to spark some weight loss during the challenge.

I've been working to live IN each day! It is way too easy for me to allow a day to disappear into busyness without taking any time to savor life.

I've lost weight with TOPS, SparkPeople, my SparkFriends, and the LIMES but I'm not yet where I need to be. I love the support that I get from all my Sparkfriends and teams, but I have to say that to have a 28 member team that is consistently supportive of each member and have the participation, caring and sharing that we have on the LIMES is a rare and beautiful thing.

I enjoy the Sparkpeople 30-day challenges too; I'm now repeating some of my special favorites.

Basically I'm just not quitting! I'm still trying to live mindfully and to be as healthy as possible.

My Goals:
Long Term Goal: To be a very healthy, very old woman, surrounded by great-grandchildren and still living independently and enjoying my life. I want to be as healthy as I can be at age "almost seventy". I want to lose weight to a goal my doctor has set for me.

My Program:
Eat Wisely! Live fully in each day! Show Love and Kindness! Trust! Pray!

Personal Information:
I grew up in North Dakota and attended the University of North Dakota for one year. Returned to college when I was 44 and graduated - now that felt good. I live in Ohio now. My husband was stationed here for his last Air Force assignment and we stayed in the area when he retired from the Air Force. I've retired as of January 1, 2011!!. I've met the goal of getting back to quilting finally. Two small projects completed recently. It keeps my hands too busy for food. I also love reading, spending time with friends, and traveling occasionally.

Other Information:
My Mantra - Believe in Miracles. Forgive everyone. Life is not fair, but it is good. My Other Mantra: What doesn't kill you just doesn't kill you! And we all should read this: "If every morning, You can find a reason to say, Yes, it's going to be a beautiful day. And every day, you find a reason to say, Yes, it is a beautiful day. And every night, you find a reason to say, Yes, it was a beautiful day. Then one day, You'll look back and easily say, Yes...it was a beautiful life."~ ~ Doe Zantamata ~ ~

emoticon emoticon emoticon ~ IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER ~ emoticon emoticon emoticon
~~Erma Bombeck~~~(written after she found out she was dying from cancer).

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth
would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less
about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day
because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical,
wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment
and realized that the wonderment growing inside me
was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said,
"Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."
There would have been more "I love you's." More "I'm sorry's."
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...
look at it and really see it, live it .and never give it back. I would stop sweating the small stuff.
I wouldn't worry about who doesn't like me, who has more, or who's doing what. Instead,
I would cherish the relationships I have with those who love me.
I would think about what God HAS blessed me with, and what I am doing each day
to promote myself mentally, physically, emotionally.

After reading this, I realized how many more "I would" add to this list.
"I would" share this with my friends, because my life is pretty wonderful with them in it.

I find that No S works out pretty well on vacations, especially when I allow for nice coffee breaks. I know I sometimes miss out on some foods in other places, but if I eat them, I also miss out on feeling only comfortably full.

Keep enjoying, and see you when it works into your schedule better.

    Hey you......yes you,
    Stop being unhappy with yourself,
Stop wishing you looked like someone else
or wishing people liked you as much as they like someone else,
Stop trying to get attention from those who hurt you,
Stop hating your body, your face, your face, your quirks..
love them for without those things you wouldn't be you
and why would you want to be anyone else? Be confident
with who you are, smile..it'll draw people in.
If anyone hates you because you are happy with yourself,
then just say "screw it, my happiness will not depend on others anymore.
I'm happy because I love who I am. I love my flaws..I love my imperfections..
they make me "me" and "me" is pretty amazing"

    emoticon My friend,
(I know this is kind of long..but hope you take the time to read it. If you choose to read it, I hope you find it very truthful., as it really makes us think of how the world is today.)

emoticon emoticon emoticon THE PARADOX OF OUR TIMES emoticon emoticon emoticon

Is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers
    Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints
We spend more, but we have less.
We have bigger houses, but smaller families
    More conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees, but less sense
    More knowledge, but less judgement
    More experts, but more problems
    More medicines, but less wellness.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often
We have learnt how to make a living, but not a life.
We have added years to life, but not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back
But have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour.
We've conquered outer space, but not inner space.
We,ve cleaned up the air, but polluted our soul.
We've split the atom, but not our prejudice.
We've higher incomes, but lower morals.
We've become long on quantity but short on quality.
    These are the times of tall men, and short character;
    Steep profits, and shallow relationships.
These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare,
More leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition.
    These are the days of two incomes, but more divorces;
Of fancier houses, but broken homes.
It is a time when there is much in the show window, and nothing in the stockroom.
A time when technology can bring this letter to you,
And a time when you can choose,
Either to make a difference,. or just hit, delete.

emoticon Valentine's Day gives me a reason to express the feelings, emoticon

I think about but don't say to people, who enrich my life in unique and meaningful ways.

You are this kind of person. When I think of you, my thoughts are warm, and fond,

And filled with admiration. I feel blessed to know you.

May your Valentine's Day be filled with the love and respect you deserve.
