No more excuses!

Hello. I am from London, UK. I came here to find support and motivation to finally achieve my health goals.

I have always been overweight since my late teens and have struggled with dieting and overeating for many years. I have never reached my goal weight in that time, my pattern would be to lose 10 or 20 pounds then gain it back again. I want to break that pattern once and for all.

I think I have thankfully become a lot more relaxed about my body as I have gotten older but some underlying health issues mean that I really need to get fit and healthy sooner rather than later.

I was in a long term relationship with a guy who was a really good cook and liked to feed me nice things as he thought it made me happy. This meant that I reached an all time high of around 196 pounds, maybe even higher. Since we separated over a year ago I have lost 20 - 25lbs just by living on my own but this has halted recently.

Luckily I have always enjoyed healthy foods, I just tend to eat to much of them, as well as the occasional junk food binge. As well as gaining control of my eating, especially my overeating I want to start exercising regularly. I did spend 3 months with a personal trainer last year which really showed me that I could enjoy exercise and see beneficial results almost immediately. Finances mean I am foregoing the gym for the time being but have committed to regular exercise of walking (maybe I'll take up running soon), aerobics, yoga and weights at home.

I'll update this as my journey progresses, hopefully with lots of good news!


April 2011 update:
Well I have been away from SP for a while this is mostly due to meeting my soulmate 7 months ago. He's also working on his weight and fitness and had lost over 80 pounds before we met. He also competes in Triathlons so he has been a huge inspiration to me. Although falling madly in love has halted our goals and we have both put on a few pounds but we are back on track and he's helping me get motivated to exercise more.

You seem to be doing really well with your weight loss! I've hit a bit of a plateau, which is why I joined up - I want to see my numbers going down like yours!
