Here goes!

I'm 60!!!! How did that happen?
Anyway, I'm back. Christmas, winter, birthday and giving up smoking mean I've put the pounds back on again. I haven't been able to run as much as I'd like because I keep getting coughs and colds too.
But Spring is here. Smoking is in the past and I'm signed up for the Race for Life again so I'd better get on it!

My Goals:
Give up alcohol and maintain. Done since april 2008
Give up smoking again- done.
Achieve target weight of 133 lbs.
Maintain Spark Program till I do!
Do strength exercises at least 3 times a week.
Jog 3x a week
Try to walk the dog more often

My Program:
So far, I find following the Spark programme set for me works as long as I stick to it.
Stick within my nutritional limits.
Do the recommended cardiovascular and strength exercises.
Be kind to myself, and be consistent.
I started running with Sparkpeople and began to enjoy it, but my knee and hip complained to I'll have to do something less painful. Swimming is the obvious one, but it is a it like a busman's holiday.

Personal Information:
I now run my own Swim School in Eastbourne. At time of writing it's been going for 18 months and I have 320 swimmers now. I also have 4 grown up children and became granny to Tabitha 1 and a half years ago.

Other Information:
I know I need to find more time for myself. I always tend to work too much and play too little.

Congrats on becoming a granny. I think that is years away for me, but life can be full of surprises! I have to log into this site every day. It keeps me on track. I'm still maintaining and reading lots about nutrition. I also go to a gym 2 or 3 times a week. I have some really good Spark friends, but sadly some others seem to have left. I'm glad you set up a busy swim school. I remember you weren't appreciated in your last job. I hope you keep sparking. You will have to be fit to keep up with the new baby.

PS: we are still in the same house. It is our daughter who has moved out! We spending our extra free time doing up the house in case we ever decide to sell it.

I'm just doing Pilates, some gentle keep fit and walking at the moment. I might start back on the elliptical machine next week after my gum stitches come out. My dentist did seem to err on the cautious side. He said I would need Nurofen for 24 hours, but I haven't even opened the packet.

Thanks for asking about the porridge. I tried a different flavour this morning. I think I will have to put in lots of fruit if I am going to eat it every day. It definitely gets me through to lunchtime though and stops the mid-morning munchies. So it's worth persevering. This is the closest emoticon I can find to someone throwing up:

Thank you so much for the kind comment on my page! I really appreciate it :) It has taken me a long time but I'm finally learning to look at things differently and focus on myself as a whole instead of being fixated on the numbers.

I'm adding you as a friend! Have a lovely weekend!

i am very impressed by your poem and how great to be able to write "as I was running". We've had snow flurries all day here but nothing has settled .....yet.
