    Hi!

I just read your entry on the article about exercising 50 minutes per day. You said you were confused that someone said you should be eating more.

Remember, if you're exercising a lot, you need to fuel your body to DO those exercises, as well as eat enough for your body to function (heart, brain, muscles, digestion....). It's entirely possible you're not eating enough.

Have you entered in how many calories you burn each week on your Start page? Are you making sure to eat within the range set up for you? Make sure you enter in your "weight this by this date" too--it's part of the equation!

    Hello Lisa,

I just wanted to comment on your blog response to how much exercise you really need. I'm not sure what kind of diet you are on, but I currently do a lot of exercise as well, but eat an 1750 calorie a day diet. I can still lose 1-2 lbs (or more) a week, but it gives me the energy I need to continue.

To find out what caloric intake is right for you, find you your basic metabolic rate at a sedentary level here http://walking.about.com/cs/calories/l/blc
alcalc.htm and subtract approximately 500 calories. That's what you should eat per day. That's a 1 lb per week loss based on calories alone. Then you can burn 500-1000 calories a day through exercise (that's quite a bit of exercise) and you should lose 2-3 lbs per week and your body won't be starving.

I've lost 75 lbs so far - so I've done it and continue to do so. If you go too low on your calories, your body will think you're starving and actually store fat and not release it....and we don't want that!!

    Good luck!

Hi Lisa, Thanks for your comments on my trivia standings. I've always been a trivia buff, little snippets of info interest me, I think it comes from my childhood love of reading the encyclopedia (not kidding). It is a wonderful diversion coupled with learning. In the 80's Trivial Pursuit craze no one would play against me - they all thought I had some kind of system and/or cheated.

Lisa, Thanks for the comment on my blog. I am interested in your reference to excessive exercise potentially stalling your weight loss, can you give me more details? Many thanks! -Brenda
