Our Bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit

I have respect for my body, and the bodies of others as we are all children of God and temples of the Holy Spirit as children of God. I love this scripture passage, to "train yourself for devotion", I am trying to take better care of myself and respect this body in which God gave me. First and foremost I desire to follow God and I am running and eating better as a means of respecting God's gift of life and health; I believe this is a moral obligation of Christians. Running in the mornings; that peaceful quiet being alone with God outside, is priceless! Learning fortitude, self restraint, and mortification in sports and exercise helps me on my spiritual journey to draw closer to God in training my mindset to better take up my cross and carry it after Christ.

Hi,

I think it is important to get the order right. Devotion to God comes first, and everything we do should be for the glory of God.

I agree that it is our duty as Catholics to take care of our bodies just as it is our duty to take care of the Earth. I also hope that I will increase my willpower and that I will be strengthened in my devotions by practising moderation and perseverance in taking care of myself. I'm just praying that my means will not become a goal and that I will never forget that everything is a gift from God. I can do nothing by myself!

God bless / Lisa
