I have had a weight problem ever since I was a child. I remember how focused my family was on it. When I was in fifth grade, I met a pediatrician who got me a diet I could manage myself and I became pretty empowered and lost a great deal of weight. When I went to college, when most people gain weight I lost and kept it off pretty well until after my first child. About the age of 40, I mentally became tired and threw in the towel. Unfortunately the pounds started to sneak up on me. At 55 I got on the scale and realized I could be considered obese. Also my blood pressure was up and my liver enzymes and my calcium levels were out of whack. I knew I had to gain control again, or I won't be able to enjoy my grandchildren.

I been with Spark People for just over five years now. I am not where I want to be but my doctors have seen a radical improvement in all the things that were going bad. I had a very emotional year a while ago and gained back a good chunk of what I lost. I try not to dwell on that. I am still working toward my goal weight but enjoying life as it comes. I appreciate all the support that I have received from my Spark Friends and am committed to keep at it.

You know that's funny, I was thinking the Field of Dreams when i saw that pic of the guys in baseball uniforms in front of the field. It reminded me of it, since we saw that movie. How cool they visited that! Great pics! I love houses like that...reminds me of Ohio too. Old type farmhouses-I used to visit my grandparents and other relatives when I was a kid and their houses looked just like that. Looking forward to better weather as fall approaches! We are on a mini vacation, but I do check in once in awhile on everyone. It is so hot here, I don't feel like walking anywhere, except at night! Have a restful Sunday-that is what I am doing now for the time being. emoticon

I don't know how people stood it back in the day of no Air cond.!! emoticon I remember back when we were in school we didn't have any there either...OLD buildings! Don't even remember when AC was put in buildings or our homes in the past. Even some of the AC's here are not working too good, when it is 98 out! Like the restaurant and the library was uncomfortable in them. Have a good weekend! Have some fun! One day you ought to share a blog of photos of a trip to Mount Rushmore...have always wanted to go there! emoticon

We have been buying the DVD's for Star Trek and having a marathon at home prior to going to see Beyond. Good to hear you liked it! Cannot wait to see it this weekend! We have been buying the 50th anniversary editions at Walmart for $3.74 each...quite the bargain! I love the old series more, but we are both big fans of Star Trek! I wish they would somehow put William Shatner in the movies like they did Spock!!! Did you hear they have a new series coming out in January called : Discovery?
Thanks for comments on the feed. I sure could not believe that pic of the sun ray...Bob took it. Could not believe how a smartphone camera caught that in the pic!
Have a good day. Hope you are OK, after all that work in the heat. I am such a wimp these days...really gets to me. Maybe it was because I got so sick with Heat Exhaustion during our vacation and just haven't snapped back yet. Hate it! But, it really has been extra hot down here...record breaking temps!!! Stay cool! emoticon

P.S. If you want you can see our vacation pics on my latest blog-went to a lighthouse. That is when I got sick from the heat.

Hope your eye is better. When my allergies get bad, my whole eye can turn red. Then I use special otc eye drops-Zaditor for it and within a couple days it is gone. Thanks for your well wishes for my husband...he is doing good so far. Next week the results should be in on the biopsy. Glad you use sure was a wake up call to he is wearing long sleeve shirts & gloves when mowing. We bought all new sunscreens too.
Have a great week...stay safe on the roads! emoticon
