I have had a weight problem ever since I was a child. I remember how focused my family was on it. When I was in fifth grade, I met a pediatrician who got me a diet I could manage myself and I became pretty empowered and lost a great deal of weight. When I went to college, when most people gain weight I lost and kept it off pretty well until after my first child. About the age of 40, I mentally became tired and threw in the towel. Unfortunately the pounds started to sneak up on me. At 55 I got on the scale and realized I could be considered obese. Also my blood pressure was up and my liver enzymes and my calcium levels were out of whack. I knew I had to gain control again, or I won't be able to enjoy my grandchildren.

I been with Spark People for just over six years now. I am not where I want to be but my doctors have seen a radical improvement in all the things that were going bad. I am still fighting with my liver, but have made changes that will help that situation. I had a very emotional year a while ago and gained back a good chunk of what I lost. I try not to dwell on that. I am still working toward my goal weight but enjoying life as it comes. I appreciate all the support that I have received from my Spark Friends and am committed to keep at it.

I just realized I forgot to stop by when you told me you did go and have been to the Mall of America before. Does it still have lots of stores and the amusement park. Or is it going to pot like so many other malls?! I bet it is still going strong, since it is so big and popular. How are your son and family liking the new house? Glad things are getting back to normal for you, not having to do all that work with the house.
We are having gorgeous weather now...about time! Although it is warmer than normal...but, not surprised with how crazy the weather has been all year!!! Have you gotten any snow yet? I saw you said it was cold and windy.
Have a good rest of the week. emoticon

Have a fun weekend! Enjoy the game! Maybe you could check out the Mall of America while you are there! That is an awesome place to experience! You sure would get a lot of exercise in it! We couldn't finish it in the day we were there! Ever been?
We have a 5 day weekend this weekend! emoticon Can't wait! emoticon

Glad you son's hand is healing so well. Yes, so fortunate he didn't have a worse injury. If I was his wife, I would be watching him like a hawk while they continue on the house!
That is cool about how you say their side of the river. South Dakota sounds interesting, one day we will visit it.
First frost-Oct. 12-that does seem early. It was at least the end of Oct in OH before we got our first frost. I have been hearing for a few other spf's that they are getting early frosts too. I am glad we got some of the cool weather (cold front) that you all are experiencing! We got a 15 degree drop in temps a couple days ago! emoticon
Only 80 right now! emoticon emoticon
I have been so swamped lately. I don't know how you keep up with working and all. I never was online at all like I am now, when I worked. Everything is computerized-even medical information from the Dr. with their portals. I barely get anything done and am so behind in lots of stuff online. Everyone has reward programs (stores, hotels) online! UGH!
Even my sparking is falling please forgive me for not responding sooner. Always appreciate seeing you on the feed. At least I do that everyday, easy to keep in touch more that way. But, I am glad you stopped by my page. Have a good rest of the week and weekend. Hope the house gets finished soon. emoticon

So sorry to hear about your son and his hand injury! That sounds scary! Poor guy! I always worry when Bob gets out there and does some work on something, he can be a klutz sometimes. Not saying your son is, but I hate when things go wrong like that! Hope the garage is done and no more accidents! Too bad about the eclipse...lots of people missed it due to rain I hear. At least we saw part of it here in FL.
Thanks for the best wishes about the hurricane...hoping it all be good news when we get back. But, I fear some will not get any. It sure is scary. Maybe we should move to SD! emoticon
