I have had a weight problem ever since I was a child. I remember how focused my family was on it. When I was in fifth grade, I met a pediatrician who got me a diet I could manage myself and I became pretty empowered and lost a great deal of weight. When I went to college, when most people gain weight I lost and kept it off pretty well until after my first child. About the age of 40, I mentally became tired and threw in the towel. Unfortunately the pounds started to sneak up on me. At 55 I got on the scale and realized I could be considered obese. Also my blood pressure was up and my liver enzymes and my calcium levels were out of whack. I knew I had to gain control again, or I won't be able to enjoy my grandchildren.

I been with Spark People for three and a half years now. I am not where I want to be but my doctors have seen a radical improvement in all the things that were going bad. I am still working toward my goal weight but enjoying life as it comes.

Thank you so much for the Goodie. They can really be hard to deal with some days, can't they? Mine are the result of an accident in '97 and they call it a Chronic Pain Syndrome where I go into a muscle spasm I can try to catch and control. Hugs and have a relaxing weekend. emoticon

Is that unusual for you to have tornado activity as a regular thing? I am glad you missed the worst of it! I have been in areas that got them close too and it is scary!!

I am glad that tree branch didn't end up on you or the house!! Well at least after 6 years doing that, you can now have more of a break! Those jobs can be so demanding! When my husband was an assistant manager of a department store in TX way back when, they were always calling him in the middle of the night with a problem. No manager would get out of bed, of course.
I just posted a blog about entering into a photo contest, so excited about it. And you can vote on one of the 28 photos I entered if you like them! Stop by if you want to. Have a great day! Hope the weather improves! Be careful! emoticon

Isn't that something how weather can be so different in the same state? When we lived in Columbus Ohio, it seemed to get missed by all the bad storms most of the time too! North was the snow belt and we would always get rain or freezing rain. Or miss it all together! Glad you didn't get any of those blizzards!
Enjoy your yardwork! emoticon
