Hi, my name is Lindy, and I am a retired teacher who still dabbles with substituting in her former building. My husband and I have decided that the year 2013 is going to be the year for healthy change for us, from eating healthy, to finding hobbies that give us joy. My new hobby is owning a horse after what seems like a lifetime NOT owning one. My sis moved back into the area with her horse, and I started spending many days a week at the barn helping her. My chance to own my own horse came when someone at the barn put her horse up for sale...and...voila! I am the proud owner of a 4 year old APHA palomino gelding named Trigger!
I have spent my life gaining and losing weight. It seems that when I lose, I feel AWESOME! But for some reason I cannot keep it off for a long length of time. As soon as something emotionally difficult comes my way, I have reached back into my useless bag of tricks and used eating to help me salve my feelings.
NO MORE! I want to change that! I know I need help! I know I can't do it without the help of my LORD and I believe He led me to this site! So I am going to do everything this site has to offer....and tracking is my first goal...tracking EVERYTHING! Food, Exercise, Emotions, Thoughts, Goals!
So far....it is WORKING! And THAT motivates me, too! Not to mention the fact that I want to be more flexible and fit to ride horses!
It feels good also, to know I will make friends as I travel this path!

My Goals:
This year, 2013, I plan on doing some sort of exercise for 30 minutes each day, whether it be to walk, dance, work on treadmill, walk my dog, work with my sister's horse, or ride my bike. I am also going to track; track my exercise, track my food, track my emotions, track my thoughts.

I am a retired teacher with two grown children and one hardworking husband. I occasionally sub, mostly for the teachers that were my former colleagues due to their insistence, though I still love the ability to work with children.
I have one grandson, and one grandchild getting ready to be born soon. My life is very busy.

    Hi Lindy,
    I'm new to SparkPeople this week and am looking for some buddies. I realized we have a lot in common. I've been overweight most of my adult life. When our children left home I thought it was time to take care of myself. I lost 60 lbs, but continue to struggle. It's a struggle every day isn't it? Right now, I'm 30 lbs over my goal. I want to take it off and keep it off. It does feel awesome when we're at the weight we need to be! I have a 17 month old granddaughter and another on the way.
