I'm the kind of person who already exercises and eats relatively healthy but just can't seem to lose any weight past a certain point. I need help!
The pics are me and my dog Maya on a walk back in October. We use a skijoring harness, I am attached to her, that's why you can't see me! The tandem bike was a rental during our vacation to Torch Lake last summer, this picture was taken in Petosky, and the last pic is a self portrait done in 1999. I know, I need a recent one!
My goal is to be strong. I want to have strong healthy bones and stay active as long as I can! Arthritis isn't going to beat me!
What I do to meet my goals:
1) Try to walk 7 days a week
2) Eat lots of fruits and veggies and low fat dairy
3) Work out with weights and my total gym
4) Do more fun physical activities like hiking and biking
5) Keep a postive attitude about my body
6) When my body decides to put the brakes on my activities by making things hurt, I won't let it get me down!
7) Use all the tools at my disposal, whether it is my dh, friends & family, equipment, clothing, medicine and physical therapy, etc. etc. etc.
I'm from a small town in the Thumb of Michigan. I've been into exercising for many years. I was part of the aerobic dance craze of the 1980's, I loved it! Did a little running too, but I've never been fast at it, I don't have good lungs. Doctors put the brakes on high impact activities when I was 34, I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis, so I started walking, and have been doing it ever since. I used to walk with my dog Missy, but when I had to put her to sleep, I walked alone for 3 years, I didn't have the heart to get another dog. But I was getting tired of walking by myself and was slacking off. One day I said to my dh, I'm going to get a gym membership tomorrow, and he said, "how bout we get you a dog?" So we did. We adopted a greyhound/husky mix and I love her to death! And she keeps me moving because she moves fast and loves to pull me with the skijoring harness!
I love to read, always gotta have a book going and an audio book in my car and my mp3 player. I have 2 adult daughters and have been married for over 29 years to my college sweetheart. I like to scrapbook, do hardanger embroidery and am a freelance artist. I love to visit museums and travel around our great state of Michigan, love the Great Lakes!
