My 'aha' moment came in April, 2004 watching Dr. Phil, by chance, for the first time ever--a show on his 2003-04 Weight Loss Challenge. Various twists & turns brought me to SparkPeople in April, 2006. I have been blessed by many acts of random kindness!

My Goals:
Increase health & fitness thru food, sleep, exercise.

My Program:
Follow Dr. Schwarzbein''s guidelines YOU HAVE TO BE HEALTHY TO LOSE WEIGHT!. Her FOOD pgm(for me): @150g starchy carbs/fruits; unlimited veggies; mod lean protein (12-18 oz/day); healthy fats (supplement omega3, emphasize monounsaturated like olive oil); whole, unprocessed foods; some of each EVERY time I eat. SLEEP: min 8 hrs good quality sleep EXERCISE: strive for relaxing, non stressful exercise (currently walking & swimming); moderate strength training exercises Journal daily food, sleep, exercise.

Personal Information:
Heavy all my life, but very rarely dieted. Basically ignored my health, got heavier and more immobile until my body said ''no more''. Started my journey April, 2004, read a lot, figured out what to eat, still working on the ''when''. Never successfully found a way to regularly exercise after the first 2 months. Surgery April, 2005 was a major setback, regained @50 lb. Started again January 2006, focus on finding a way to exercise regularly and getting enough sleep regularly. Joined a fitness club with a pool mid-April 2006 and now swim, water jog, walk (treadmill) & stationary bike regularly. Sleeping through the night is still an elusive goal!
