I have heart disease. I was diagnosed at age 49. My life changed from that time on. I can no longer take my health for granted. I want to live a healthy lifestyle.
For those, not yet diagnosed, I want you to know that studies show that optimism appears to decrease the chances of developing heart disease or dying from it. Make healthy meals for you and for your family. Exercise, exercise, exercise. My cardiologist has advised me to do 5 days of moderate cardio each week, 30 minutes per day. I try to do more when possible. I hope that by reading this it may help someone to improve their quaility of life.
Heart Attack Warning Signs
Some heart attacks are sudden and intense � the "movie heart attack," where no one doubts what's happening. But most heart attacks start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. Often people affected aren't sure what's wrong and wait too long before getting help. Here are signs that can mean a heart attack is happening:
Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.
Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.
Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort.
Other signs may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.
THE OATH OF THE POSSE TO DwD TEAM MEMBERS
1. When you are sad -- We will jump on the person who made you sad like a spider monkey jacked up on Mountain Dew...or Limes & Coconuts.
2. When you are blue -- We will try to dislodge whatever is choking you. Or jump the person who made you blue, like the jacked up Spider Monkey...
3. When you smile -- We will know you are plotting something that we must be involved in. Like the jacked up Spider Monkey we are gonna be with you.
4. When you're scared -- we will high tail it out of here and come to your rescue....
5. When you are worried -- We will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining, ya big lovable baby!!!!
6. When you are confused -- We will use little words & lots of limes & coconuts...
7. When you are sick --We will console you until your better with stories and antics of our rides and adventures...
8. When you fall -- We'll help you to laugh so we all can laugh our butts off, then pick you up and dust you off.
9. When you are lonely -- We will be there to offer cheer and companionship until you say Spider Monkey.
10. When you are having trouble like/loving yourself -- We will be there to point out your qualities we see and make you aware of what we love about you.
To be a Posse Rider, this is our oath...I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask -- because you are OUR FRIENDS!

MORE ON THE LYME IN THE COCONUT /BIRTH OF THE POSSE......
OK, here is the rest of the story...
-around the 4th of July weekend, PRYZYM started a thread called DE LYME IN DE COCONUT...
-she revealed that in addition to all of her life's experiences she had Lyme's disease (and inferring she was the cocoNUT)
-many messages of sympathy and empathy were shared BUT
-so being festive and clever and totally creative members that we are
-we started playing with words like Lyme became limes and then there were the coconuts (all of us)
-and PRYZYM said that some doctor looked like George Clooney but she really liked Johnny Depp
-So Johnny Depp was remembered as pirate Jack Sparrow -then Jack Sparrow, limes, coconuts landed on some beach
-then someone mentioned that some boyfirend and/or girlfriend was causing problems in addition to the original concern about Lyme disease
-then WOWEETOO aka Lady-in-Waiting... suggested a posse needed to lasso the dude/dudette that was causing problems for any and all DwD members
-now the posse idea came from another thread started about a bride and groom ... where the groom did something funny but sweet... and we decided that he needed a posse of DwD members to help educate him about how to be a little more romantic
-so the posse idea has grown to our desire to comfort, support, defend all DwD members....
-and we have various means of riding---giraffes, elefants, monkey (Jack Sparrow's monkey) turtles, horses provided by MR2HORSES...
So we have this wonderful posse that arms themselves with limes, coconuts, lime jello etc etc etc., and then Jack Sparrow has been known to enter the Royal Castle, savaging me while I hold him hostage... I mean he holds me hostage.....
So this summer we have formed the posse to provide unconditional love etc... MR2HORSES worked with Willie Shakespeare to write the OATH OF THE DwD POSSE... and we have the monks recopying it so that we can repost it as needed....
BUT it all started when PRYZYM revealed her LYME IN THE COCONUT story.... Which you can search the archives for the thread and enjoy it for yourself.

Eat lean protein, freggies and get more protein & fiber in my diet.
Drink at least 64 ounces of water per day.
Walking and other exercises.
I am drinking 64 oz of water per day.
I exercise everyday with a minimum of 20 minutes per day. Most days I do more.
I plan to lose inches.
I weigh and measure myself (or have it done at Curves) once a month. I like to see positive results.
I am married with two daughters. I also have two granddaughters and one grandson.. I am 60 and starting gaining weight in my 40's. It is much harder to lose weight as I have gotten older.
I love to travel and also love movies.

stopping by to remind you that when we commit to losing weight, we need to create small realistic goals that are attainable. Small goals could be anything like getting in your daily serving of fruit and vegetables.
Remember when it comes to vegetables, we are just talking your typical tomato, carrot and celery to eat or snack on. When it comes to vegetables then are many to chose from like kale, collard greens, mustard greens and other dark leafy greens. The darker green the leaf the more fiber the vegetable has and the better it is for your digestion.
We also have purple, yellow and orange carrots, purple potatoes, red, green and yellow onions. Then there is whole multitude of other vegetables like summer, butter, winter, pumpkin squashes, radishes can be white or pink, even red. Then look at those beautiful black egg plants they to can come in different colors. The point is don't be afraid to experiment with different types of foods. And let's not forget our fruits, they can be sweet or sour, you can use them for desserts, smoothies, juices, snacks and so much more if you are a creative cook.
If you don't like water, this too can be another small goal, try making a goal to drink at least 5 glasses of water 5 days a week.
And most importantly when you reach your small goal, don't forget to reward yourself with a non-food reward for achieving that goal.
Then it is time to move the goal up a little. Like the water from 5 glasses to 6 per day.
And also you will want to "Fire up your sneakers to get at least 10+minutes of exercise at least 3-5 times a week." I know you can...You are ready to take that first step and commit yourself to a "HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE".... "A HEALTHIER NEW YOU"....
