Hello everyone!

I've always been heavy. I can't remember a time when my weight was not an issue. My heaviest was 210 pounds in 1998. After the birth of my children, I assume my weight went to the 180's just from chasing them around the house and being more active in that respect but in 2006 I was diagnosed with diabetes at age 31.

This was very devastating to me. My grandmother died before I was born to this disease. My father has had many problems due to this as well. At first, I went through a year of denial of the effects my weight had/has on my health and finally in December I decided to take charge of my health and life. I weighed 180 in the beginning of December and I have lost 11 pounds so far by walking and starting an active life style and changing my eating habits.

I want to be here for my children like my parents have been there for me. I want to grow old with my spouse. I want to teach my children through example. I want to be healthy and control/reverse the diabetes that I have brought onto myself. I WANT TO BE HEALTHY!

I found Sparks in January and just love the information and support that can be found here. I hope to learn ways to make my life style change permanent and to get and offer support to others who are changing their lives like me.

My Goals:
I would love to weigh 135 pounds. I think it was sometime in middle school when I last weighed this much. :) Or should I say this little?

My Program:
I am doing a running program called couch to 5k but honestly I'm stuck on week three at this point but it doesn't bother me at all because I know that in time my body will be a well-toned machine. I also watch what I eat and try my hardest to stay within my sparks diet goals.

Personal Information:
I have a very addicting hobby. I love my coral reef tank. I really enjoy the little ecosystem that I have created in my living room. :)

    Just stopping by to say thanks for the add and if you ever need support don't hesitate to contact me. Also, I just love your background and the pic of your coral is amazing. I LOVE saltwater, freshwater, corals, seahorses.... anything in a tank. My parents had tons when I lived at home. It is totally addicting! I'm considering adding a tank soon.

    Okay, this site keeps getting better and better!

    They just launched today a SparkPeople Fitness Starter Kit $24.95 at there store.     I'm just stopping by to tell you about my new team I've started! It's called By The Numbers and we are focusing on - you guessed it - tracking our numbers! I have a Calorie Deficit Calculator that will help you really track how you can lose your two pounds a week, monthly challenges, and weekly challenges along with the Team Goals. So many teams don't stay active for very long and I really want to have a very active team, so I am inviting all of my SparkFriends to join me!
