Creating a healthy me...

I'm sure many of you have been trying to lose those 20 or so extra pounds at least a few times in the past. There are many reasons why it's easy to put on weight. The hard part is getting it off...in a healthy way and permanently.
I myself have struggled with weight for most of my life. At 43, the mother of 3 young men...ages 14, 18 and 22...I have been an Aerobics Instructor, (after putting on 60lbs with my first born) and new if I was committed to teaching I would have to show up for ...

I myself have struggled with weight for most of my life. At 43, the mother of 3 young men...ages 14, 18 and 22...I have been an Aerobics Instructor, (after putting on 60lbs with my first born) and new if I was committed to teaching I would have to show up for the classes! I waitressed, taught preschool, taught tae kwon do to ages 4-10...in the mean time losing and gaining the extra 40 to 50 lbs with my next two boys. And then finally the biggest whopper of all...seperating from my husband which forced me to have to go back to school full time and get a full time job. I sat on my behind for the last 4 years. My metabolism is shot. I can still run 4-5 miles, hike up hill, down hill, for miles on end...and still I now way 170 lbs. I am at least 25lbs overweight for my height and stature. I'm 5" 8' and for the most part, I feel i'm pretty attractive. But, it's a struggle to buy clothes that look nice, and I waste much too much time in the morning deciding what I am going to wear for work because of my extra weight. I am sitting at the computer right now typing this and my belly is being sucked in by my "way to tight" panty hose and my way too tight jeans, and it is SOOOOOOOO uncomfortable. I am so ready to do something about this. I work out at the gym at least 3 times a week and I also work on a farm on Sundays, which requires lots of carrying, picking up, running around, etc.
I love food, so it is a major problem for me, and I am also willing to bet that most of you are in the same boat as I am. It's a scheduling thing...preparing ahead of time and making it a priority to plan what is going into our bodies on a daily basis. It's not that I don't care and want a bagel for breakfast and pizza at night...it's the lack of time which causes me to grab the quickest thing. I would love to help anyone on this board to achieve their goals. I'd like this to be the last and only time I have to go through this battle again. Not too mention, I'm tired of hearing my little italian mother say..."oh...I see you put on some weight"!!!!!!! ARGH! I am divorced, my kids are practically grown, and I am determined to look hot (as well as be healthy...that is the main focus here) so I am asking for your support! Thanks for having me here.
Lily

Hi! I see we have a few things in common. We both have three sons. I'm about a year older than you. I did a Spark People buddy search and apparently you live within 0-25 miles of me. I love food too much, too. How about we get to know each other better? Come visit my Spark Page. -Becki

Hi Lily,
I found that staying consistent with exercise, proper rest and eating enough food through the day makes a difference. God bless and give you strength.
