Opening up...

I'm a 21 yr. old junior at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Im studying interior design and working as a design intern at a local firm.
When it comes to health and fitness I am lacking. My hectic schedule does not allow me time to work out which is a huge change from my norm. Really I want to feel good about myself and be confident. When it comes to health and fitness I am lacking. My hectic schedule does not allow me time to work out which is a huge change from my norm. Really I want to feel good about myself and be confident. I used to love my body and treat it with respect, but now I eat whatever I can between working and studying and forget work outs- there aren't enough hours in the day to sleep let alone sweat.
- My Struggle-
For much of my life I have struggled with an eating disorder. When I was 13 years old is when I got over obsessed with my looks and weight. I began skipping meals and working out for hours a day. I soon got sooo many compliments on my body, and enjoyed all of the extra attention from the males. I counted every single calorie that went into my mouth and made sure that I burned every calorie and then some through exercise. I got to the point where I didn't have periods, I felt light headed or got tunnel vision during the day , and had constant headaches. I had little to no energy but kept pushing myself to the point of complete exhaustion. Eventually it ended because of my boyfriend (of 6 years who I am still in love with to this day) he figured it out and confronted me.
From that point on I have put on weight and been unhappy with myself. Last year I went into a depressive state and ended up handling it by binge eating, when I saw how much weight I had gained I was shocked. I couldn't handle my compulsions to binge so I began purging after with throwing up or laxatives. I hated myself and it showed in the way I carried myself. Thankfully for me I have a big sister who is supportive and I told her what I was doing. She helped me recover and regain control of my life.
The next chapter of my story begins now- on the road to figuring out how to be happy and healthy.

I never track on the site. I am terrible at doing it consistently. I'm trying to just keep track of my food with a food journal. I have the hardest time staying motivated. Keeping my motivation up for this whole process is really hard.
