Here are a few things I've learned along the way, though I need to remind myself about them all the time:

1. DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP FOR BEING IMPERFECT. A binge doesn't mean you're a bad person. Missing a work-out or two does not mean you're a failure. Maybe slip-ups mean that there's a buried emotion struggling to be heard. Find it, heal it, move on.

2. DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU HIT GOAL TO LOVE YOURSELF. You are a beautiful person just the way you are. Weight has nothing to do with it.

3. YOU WILL SLIP UP. You can't do everything perfectly all the time. This goes back to #1. Expect mistakes, and get right back on track when they happen. Do NOT use them as an excuse to go back to your old, unhealthy ways.

4. YOU LOVE EXERCISE!!! I mean, really love it. That feeling after a run (and more and more often, DURING the run) is amazing. Sore muscles the day after strength training are a sign that you're getting stronger. Remember those feelings when you feel like skipping a work out.

5. YOU'RE IN THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL. Don't let a week or two (or more) of bad weigh-ins stop you. Your entire body is changing, not just your weight. Keep doing what you're doing and the weight will come off.

My immediate goal is to lose 10% of my body weight, which equals 20 lbs. Once I hit 176, I'll shoot for another 10%.

My ultimate goal is about 25% lost, but that's a little too overwhelming to focus on right now!

    Thanks for your input on my Eating blog! And I don't mind being your guinea pig, though I won't remember to contact you personally for updates! I'll just keep everyone posted via blogging. The general consensus is I should be eating more protein, and I'm thinking that people are probably right. I've decided to try and find foods that have at least ten grams of protein per hundred calories, and we'll see how that goes. I am also going to allow myself to be in the 1500s (although, after updating my current weight into my food tracker, my tracker dropped to 1360-1710, so that makes me nervous!) We'll see how more protein works out.
