I am a 50 something year old mother of two, a middle schooler and a high school senior in a suburb of the Kansas side of KC. I am trying to lose a lot of weight and lead a healthier lifestyle. This time is going to be the last time I start to treat my body with respect and then stop! Besides weight loss, I want to work on heart health through exercise as well as flexibility. Eventually, I would also like to add strength training. My husband is older than I and also not fit. I have a great friend on Spark and we are accountable to each other which can really make a difference. I want to get off blood pressure medicines and lose enough weight to be a good candidate for knee replacement surgery.

My Goals:
I want to lose weight. My highest ever was 404. I started SparkPeople around 394 (374.8 in March 2013). I want to not feel like I am close to death and I want to find a way through weight loss and maybe knee replacement to improve my mobility/health.

My Program:
I have calorie counted. I have changed to healthy eating (more fruits and vegetables), I have done Naturally Slim and mindful eating. Now, I am trying mini meals that have balanced carbs/fats/proteins. I am trying to get less obsessed with foods. I plan to use some protein bars and shakes for that reason as well as to jumpstart my weightloss and get some momentum going.

Personal Information:
I am 50, I work fulltime. I have two children. I am currently morbidly obese. I do not have a thyroid due to thyroid cancer back in 2005. I have bad knees. Historically, I had back problems but none currently. I have a high stress job that demands 45-50 hours a week.

Other Information:
My BIG weightloss goal is to weigh 190 or less. ..other goals include getting off all blood pressure medications, being able to walk long distances and bicycle without pain.

    Thanks much for your comment and good wishes. I return those twofold to you. I've lost a total of about 140 lbs so far, but, like you, seem to have reached a plateau. Of course, I've been cheating recently and need to get the motivation back. (Sometimes we in the helping professions get caught up in emotional eating , to replace some of what we give to others. At least, for me. I can be weird sometimes.)

    Your idea of the KC team meeting up for walks is awesome! I love the Arboretum. It's freezing today, but hopefully we can plan something in the next few weeks when Spring returns!
