I have been struggling with my weight for my whole life. I went on my first diet at the ripe old age of 10, and have fluctuated ever since. I love exercising, but I also love food, so I have to find that balance. I have been browsing articles on Spark for over a year now, but I recently started using the nutrition tracker, which I think will really help me finally achieve my goals.
I was happy with my weight at 145 a few years ago, but I still wanted to get down to 135. Since then I have fluctuated to the high 170's until I hit my all time high of 191 in December of 2008. Blame it on falling in love and eating out all the time, but I'm ready to get serious!
Update as of July 25th, 2009:
I have committed myself to eating clean and lifting heavier! I think this is the change I really needed to finally succeed.

Exercise: 4-6 days per week
Running, jogging, elliptical, weight training, exercise classes and pilates.
Using the nutritional tracker to make sure I am eating within my calorie range.
Eating an abundance of fresh fruit and veggies.
Trying to eliminate artificial ingredients in foods/drinks.

Sounds much more delicious than coffee... but it also sounds like it'd take a ton more effort haha. I was actually thinking I'd LOVE to get a juicer. Still doesn't help me much when I'm falling asleep at work and don't have the materials to whip up some juice! It'd be great to plan ahead in the morning. I intend to register for a nice juicer for my wedding. I did eat an apple this morning, and that does always help a little.
Where are you at in Chicago again? I can't remember.

I don't think I could ever do a fully raw diet... I think i'd have to rely too much on supplementation, which I would like to avoid. After I get more into the clean eating though I'd definitely like to incorporate a good deal of raw eating into my diet. Then who knows? It's all gradual. Even now I'm not being 100% clean since there's still a lot of stuff around the house to get rid of, but I am definitely moving in that direction and finding myself preferring to eat that way even after just one week! I hope your new year is off to a great start!!
