Every day is an opportunity to make good decisions.

I'm 27, tired of being fat, tired of being in bad shape, and ready to change. I'm just about finished with grad school and hope to move in the next year, and I would really like to be in better shape by that time! I've put on at least 30 pounds in the last five years since I graduated college (thanks, desk job!) and would like to lose all that and about 30 pounds more. I believe in small, attainable goals, so my first weight loss goal is 28 pounds. Once that is gone, I'll reassess.

My dog Hazel is my inspiration and she keeps me moving every single day. Even though she has a gimpy leg, she loves to run and play, and I know that part of being a good dog-mom is walking her every single day, even if it's 95 degrees or raining. My exercise program right now consists of walking her every day for 30-60 minutes, and doing some sort of workout video at least 3 times a week. So far, so good!

Good news...somebody else bitched my friend out so I didn't have to! He did admit he's gained a lot of weight, though he insists he's stuck with low sodium, low cholesterol, low fat eating, and that it's being forced by his health to be sedentary that's doing this. I don't quite buy it, but at least he's had his conscience tweaked.

Hi Letele! A belated welcome to the Librarians (and Wanna-Be Librarians) team! I like your Valentine idea of getting enough sleep - it's something I'm not very good at either, mostly because I have this notion that after 9pm is my "me" time - it's when my 6 year old is asleep, for one thing - but I'm just robbing myself of energy the next morning. So I might give that a try for at least a week of this month.
