I am 60 years old, a mom of three grown boys, a grandmother of a 2 year old girl (and a little boy on the way), a wife of 41 years (Jan. 8, 2013), a passionate, just retired special education teacher of 36 years, and a devoted sister, sister-in-law, and daughter-in-law, and niece. In July of 2010, I completed the San Francisco 1/2 Marathon with some dear friends. I completed the HM in Palm Springs in Feb. 2012. I wasn't speedy, but I bettered my time from my HM in San Francisco. My goal is to remain healthy, lose a few pounds, and maintain a happy, spontaneous, nutritious, and active lifestyle. I live in Southern California in an old but growing community located in a valley below the San Bernardino mountains on the edge of the lower desert, west of Palm Springs. My husband and I have lived and raised our boys in our current home (previously his grandparents retirement home) for 37 years.

My Goals:
Now that I understand the Spark program more completely I can set better goals: *I will exercise at least 5 days a week. *I will drink 8 glasses of water each day. *I will schedule cardio and strength training. *I will track my exercise. *I will track my food and nutrients. *I will read inspirational meditations and pray each morning.....no excuses....positive outlook. *I will stay active, productive, and engaged in life every day. *I will show GRATITUDE in my thoughts and actions.
My Program:
I am diving full speed into the Spark program and determined not to get discouraged or deterred from my goals.
Personal Information:
I have had many personal hurdles to overcome in my life. I have successfully overcome them with the help of God, a supportive husband, three wonderful sons, several very important biological family members, supportive in-laws, and amazing friends. I continue to live a blessed life one moment at a time. I expect to have many more hurdles in the future and feel prepared to meet the challenges.
Other Information:
I had two heart attacks in 1989 & 1991. I am in remission from an autoimmune disease called Sweet's Syndrome. I had a complete hip replacement in 2006. I had cataracts in both eyes, lenses replaced in 2008. My jogging/walking began in 2010. Anything is possible at any age!!! A crucial aspect of my spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health is that I am a successfully recovering alcoholic of 10 years and 10 months. I hope to share my experience, strength, and hope for a better life with others.
