I am 62 years old, a mom of three amazing grown boys, a grandmother of a 4 year old girl and a 22 month old boy, a wife of 43 years, a passionate & retired special education teacher of 36 years, and a devoted sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, and friend. I am 62 years old, a mom of three amazing grown boys, a grandmother of a 4 year old girl and a 22 month old boy, a wife of 43 years, a passionate & retired special education teacher of 36 years, and a devoted sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, and friend. I live in Southern California in an old but growing community located in a valley below the San Bernardino mountains on the edge of the lower desert, west of Palm Springs. My husband and I have lived and raised our boys in our current home (previously his grandparents retirement home) for 38 years.

My Goals:
Now that I understand the Spark program more completely I can set better goals:
*I will exercise at least 5 days a week.
*I will drink 8 glasses of water each day.
*I will walk/jog 4-5 times per week.
I will practice yoga at the studio 3-5 times per week.
*I will track my walk/jog miles and exercise minutes daily.
*I will track my food and nutrients periodically to stay on track.
*I will read inspirational meditations and pray each morning.....no excuses....positive outlook.
*I will stay active, productive, and engaged in life every day.
*I will show GRATITUDE in my thoughts and actions.

My Program:
I am diving full speed into the Spark program and determined not to get discouraged or deterred from my goals.

Personal Information:
I have had many personal hurdles to overcome in my life. I have successfully overcome them with the help of God, a supportive husband, three wonderful sons, several very important biological family members, and amazing friends. I continue to live a blessed life one moment at a time. I expect to have many more hurdles in the future and feel prepared to meet the challenges.

Other Information:
I had two heart attacks in 1989 & 1991. I am in remission from an autoimmune disease called Sweet's Syndrome. I had a complete hip replacement in 2006. I had cataracts in both eyes, lenses replaced in 2008.
My jogging/walking began in 2010. Anything is possible at any age!!!

A crucial aspect of my spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health is that I am a successfully recovering alcoholic of 13 years. I hope to share my experience, strength, and hope for a better life with others.

Sometimes the healthiest thing I can do for myself is to admit that I am not perfect. I am human. I make mistakes. Today I will have the courage to look the truth in the face, admit my errors and achievements, appreciate my growth. and make amends where I have done harm. I will not attempt to manage or control what is beyond my powers. I will dedicate myself to managing my own life, and only mine.

There is only one corner of the world you can be sure of improving.and that is your own self.

As I look at my fitness, nutrition and personal goals, I seek progress not perfection. I admit I am not perfect, but I am making positive changes and I rejoice in my growth as I seek to eliminate my character defects. Strength comes from facing adversity and not giving in, not surrendering, not giving up.

emoticon Leslie! Think of healthy living as a career. Make goal setting a regular part of your life. Become a permanent participant in sustaining better lifestyle choices. Focus on one goal at a time to become a healthier you. Develop an action plan for each goal and finish what you start. Each positive change will lead you to better results. You CAN and WILL turn your GOALS into the results that you are striving for!
