My Goals:
I am well into my personal "marathon" journey to lose approximately 175 lbs. With some fits and starts, I have finally begun to gain some mastery over food, and, in the process, I am regaining my life. When I write my book it will be entitled: "How I Lost Half My Body Weight and Found Myself."

My Program:
I am following a modified South Beach-type Diet as it seems to fit my nutritional needs. I struggle with exercise, so I need to find some motivation in that department. I have successfully peeled my emotional onion, so to speak, and now understand why I have used food to self medicate. It is a shame these lessons are coming so late in life, but I believe that today is beautiful and the best is yet to come.

Personal Information:
I am 53, and my starting weight was 312 lbs. I have lost 64 lbs to date, but still have a momentous journey ahead of me. I am the married mother of two grown children, and have a 4 year old grandson. I want to be alive to enjoy watching him grow, so I am very motivated in my weight loss goal. Politically I am liberal, and that very much defines who I am as a person. I am an atheist, and, though I respect other opinions, I have chosen to live without religion. I would like to find online friends who are of like mind so we can support each other in this journey. I have always been someone's mother, daughter, wife or employee first. For the first time since I was 20, I am able to place myself first-- though that seems foreign and exciting all at the same time. I am an optimistic person, and generally see the cup half-full. I must remind myself that a journey starts with a single step.

Other Information:
"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do."

Hey, just checking in! How are things?

Fall is in the air. Now I don't have the excuse not to walk... In the summer "Oh it's too hot... too hot for the dog..."

I'll have to come up with something else. How does allergic to maple leaves sound?

What are you going to be for halloween this year?
