Marathon Finishers :) HEZLIZZIE and I in Jacksonville.
Aaron and I finishing his first Half Marathon. July 4, 2011
Both feet up!
Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
I've been maintaining for over three years now(!) - October 10th was my goal anniversary. I lost a total of about 60 lbs and dropped from a snug 12 to a loose 6. I've kept off about 50 lbs of my original loss and my measurements are about the same, even weighing more. Running ultramarathons and marathons added some heavy, dense lower body muscle and about 2 inches of bootie! And I like cookies. Mmm. Cookies.
I've currently run 9 Marathons, about 11(?) Half Marathons, a 50K (number 2 is April 20, 2013) and took 3rd in my division and a 50 miler (rematch on that race is August 24, 2013. Looking to shave off a few hours!) and took 4th in my division. I've also done countless smaller races. I love to race and run. It's really hard for me to do any other exercise, though I try to ST at least 1-3 times a week, lifting heavy.
After struggling with EDNOS, triggered by obsessive calorie counting and general Life Stuff, I find myself unable to focus too much on losing weight at this point in my life. I'm healing and trying to find a good relationship with food and my body. I find SparkPeople and the blogs of others' here to be a trigger, quite often, so I'm not around as much anymore. So much of weight loss looks a lot like disordered relationships with food. :/ I don't like having my ED brain set off, it's a misery. So, I avoid reading things as much as I can.
I AM around, though, and still running, racing and living a mostly healthy life with lots of good, healthy food and lots of super tasty vegan goodies... mostly without the side serving of guilty and anxiety. Work in progress!
Oh! I blog over at Vegan Mainstream now, off and on, and was recently published in a real, actual book! "Confronting Animal Exploitation". It's even on Amazon! You can buy it for an E-reader!!! I'm very excited to be a published author and hope my essay (and blogging) reaches some folks and makes a difference for chickens. :)

Higher mileage ultramarathon training. Hoping to avg around 60-70 at peak. Usually running around 40-50 miles/week.
Running 4-5X a week, trying to hit ST 2X a week.
I love my rats (I currently have 8 kiddos), my Mollycat, Maiziecat and Leonard the jerk kitten, my new quail buddy, Trevor(!) my SO and making art. I'm a huge bookworm and a bit obsessed with Dr. Who currently.
I've been vegan for 8 years (going on 9 now) and have never looked back. :)
I'm a graphic designer and artist for Whole Foods Market here in St. Paul.
I love Stephen King, Joss Whedon and all things rat related. My current kiddos are such great ratties!
I'm a big bookworm with an overburdened shelf of well-loved novels and such. I have WAY too much yarn, way too much fabric (for sewing rat hammocks and stuff!) and not enough spare time to do all the fun projects I've got on my plate.

BAHAHAHA that is hilarious you actually know her!! Such a small world! I wonder if I found her through you in the first place here... ;)
I'm hoping to try some more specialized training after my Groupon expires - Muy Thai is definitely one that interests me because KICKING!
How was your weekend? I just saw your status that you have Lasik coming up! How exciting and scary! I want to get it done so bad, so you need to come back with a full report. Good luck!!!!

Oh, awesome! Sounds super fun. I'm glad you're enjoying it too! I've been doing an MMA for Fitness class on Thursday nights the past few weeks, and I am really enjoying it too. I'm right there with you on enjoying punching, kicking, and weapons more than grappling. I was asking about training for a specific martial art and saying that I don't really want to fight anyone, I just wand to learn HOW! :) So after my Groupon for these classes expires, I'm going to look into classes for Muy Thai or something like that - it's such a killer workout, and fun!
Keep me posted how you progress and if you end up specializing in one type or whatever. Also, my friend CATS_MEOW_0911 is doing some Jiu Jitsu and Muy Thai training - you should check out her page and compare notes! :)

Oh, it definitely was incredibly poorly organized. They say last yr it was well organized. Go figure.
It's my first time tho & I got to run down the strip . . . what can I say, just call me Pollyanna!
The next one is Livestrong Austin, so no, not RnR.

I think the knee might actually be feeling better today . . . and like an idiot I'm going to try one of my runner's yoga DVDs . . . but this one I've done a ton of times.
I am icing & elevating, but have you ever been to Vegas? Seriously, there really isn't a way to avoid a fair amount of walking. I even bought a monorail pass, which is something I NEVER do here, but really, I'm trying to rest up as much as possible!
Hope YOUR knee is feeling better soon.
