Lose weight to eliminate pain!

Hi am 53 years old and want to feel better, make better food choices and look better. I am a type 2 diabetic and I have Osteoarthritis of the knee and spine. I need to lose weight to eliminate pain as my back and knees because of caring all of th burden in these 2 areas. I want to make my burdens lighter by weighing less than this picture is. But unforunately at the time that I took this picture I weighted 217 lbs. I got up to 233.8 lbs before I started trying to lose again. I am now down ...
Hi am 53 years old and want to feel better, make better food choices and look better. I am a type 2 diabetic and I have Osteoarthritis of the knee and spine. I need to lose weight to eliminate pain as my back and knees because of caring all of th burden in these 2 areas. I want to make my burdens lighter by weighing less than this picture is. But unforunately at the time that I took this picture I weighted 217 lbs. I got up to 233.8 lbs before I started trying to lose again. I am now down to 226.0 today. I read the book Eat More Weigh Less by Dr. Dean Ornish. I have changed my diet to a vegetarian diet after some researching the Life Change Plan I decided that this would be better for me. I am working hard to get to my goals of 3-5 lbs per week for the next 29 weeks. I am working on rehabilating my left knee. I had surgery on my back on October 7, 2011 and have not had any more pain since the healing time has passed. I know that there will be times where I fall off but, still I must pick up where I left off. I know that there will be times where my cravings will overcome me, but i will do my best to with stand by the fact that I am changing my life for the better and eating this way is not healthy or is it in my best interest. I have a difference and its Sparkpeople that will support me through this to my goals and beyond.

My Goals:
I want to see a slimmer version of me I want to do this in 3-5 lbs per week to meet my goal. I am going to follow the QWLC plan and will weigh in 3-5x per week at the center. I want to lose about 40 lbs over the next week or so. I lost 83 lbs and gained it back so I cant wait to get back into my size 10-11 baby phat jeans. :-D

Hey Seattle58, thanks for sharing with me. You have an issue with a sweet tooth I have issues with carbs. Sweets, white rice, pasta, chips, candy, and the likes of these. I want to get back on track too and would be happy to have you as my SPfriend too. Thanks. My next step is to look into the challenges catogory to see if I can find something tohelp me stay focused.

emoticon to Spark People and the Taming the *Sweet Tooth* team. I have been fighting keep my sweet tooth under control since childhood and realized that not eating properly has been the cause of many of my aches and pains that I decided to get serious about being fit and healthy as I age.

The sweet tooth is the one thing that gives me the most problem in my diet and bit by bit I am learning to tame that sweet tooth.
