TOOLS TO MY SUCCESS: iPod(tech podcasts & music), Mountain Bike, Schwinn AirDyne (stationary bike that works arms as well as legs) and 200' sandy hill, Push Lawnmower two acres 2-3 times per week in the summer......

FOOD FOR MY SUCCESS: Water, Oatmeal, Water, Chicken Breast, Water, AhiTuna, Water, Salmon, Water, Broccoli, Water, Dark Red Beans, Water, Wild Rice and last but not least Water!!

I'm training now for my Second 5k! 3.1 miles may not sound very far; however, for me it will be a huge milestone the first time! Detroit, MI's Turkey Trot November 2009,

SP Start:
6'2" sitting at 320lbs I started clamping down on my food intake back in June 2006, and gave myself a start date for working out Aug 1st 2006..... I found Spark People about August 6, 2006 and it was sweet to track everything down to the protein as well as workouts. 2-a-day cardio for 30min(504cal) each session... 1008 cadio calories burnt/day

3 months into SP: Total loss 35+lbs

I'm not on any "fad" diet... I'm just eating healthy... 1200-1500cals/day I'm at about 18-25g of fat/day, and trying to stay under 175-200carbs/day.... working out twice a day and burning about 1008calories per day.... I keep an eye on everything and have a good balance of cals, fats, carbs, proteins, etc.... and CARDIO workouts!!

6 months into SP: Total loss 50+lbs

I travel a lot; however, I find that I can still get my cardio in anywhere! and also still eat my oatmeal every morning & 2 gallons of water per day!!(yes 2 gallons) luckily for me I have never been a pop/soda fan, I always preferred water, I have just bumped it up a bit in the last year to fill the void of crappy food!!(it works for me)


8/1/07!! well it is my ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY on spark people!! and has been such a great journey for me!! I have lost about 70ish lbs... I lost about 45lbs in the first 4months by doing the major cardio stated above, twice a day etc... for the last 7.5months I�ve been learning to live without the balls out working out 2 times a day.. I�m down to about 1-4 times per week 1/2hr per day (sometimes less) and just eating right....REAL RIGHT!!...... about 30lbs lost that way... just being healthy.... I still track everything I eat everyday... however, for the last 5 or so months i gave up tracking my exercise.... I find myself just staying active everyday... and when I work out it's just part of my day now..... it really is not a big deal..... I look back at the last year or so and the thing that is different this time around is I'm doing it for ME, all the right reasons, and has changed into a lifestyle not a diet!! So cheers to me!!

daily intake now:
SP food tracking has helped me figure out how I can eat & drink while keeping the weight off!!....1300-1600max cals/day, 15-25 max fat/day, 100-150g protein/day... about once a month I�ll go on a "food bender" and double the intake, usually by eating out... but that's it..... in the last 365days I've eaten fast food maybe 4 times (and that was subway veggie sub).... I've eaten out in a restaurant maybe 10-12times (and that was as close to my SP daily numbers as I could get on the menu) I have changed everything I eat..... Sorry vegans I still eat chicken and fish... and every once in a while I'll go on a bender with a nice hamburger or "side of beef" LOL!!

I started this journey with 44-45 pants, 19 dress shirt, 3xl golf shirts.... I'm now at size 38 pants, jeans, khaki's, shorts, and I'm wearing 17 dress shirts, and XL golf shirts etc..... IT FEELS SO GREAT TO GO INTO "ANY" STORE!!! AND I CAN FIND MY SIZE IN EVERYTHING!!!

JULY 2009 UPDATE:
well after playing with 15-20lb lose/gain game the last couple of years, and coming up to my 3 year anniversary with SP i figured i'd get back into "weight loss mode"... for me it's getting back into my 2-a-days workout schedule like I did when I first started SP.

i've been back in the saddle about a month now and kickin butt!! my "thin" clothes are fitting easier, and some old "fat" suits I had that tailored after my initial 70ish pound weight loss are fitting better....

now I hope to make it to my 2006 goal of 230-240lbs....

to fit into a size 36 pants/jeans! and to start strength training now!!hmmmm well i haven't been in 36 since oohhh lets say high school!! wooo... that sounds weird!!... "better late than never!!"


My Program:

    CRACKers... good one! I am such a freak, but glad to entertain! And now I'm drinking regular caffeinated coffee for the first time in about 3 weeks. Lord help us all. It's gonna be a super fast, super productive morning!

    Getting a lot snow your way? Sticking to the running or more to the skiing now?

    I'm thinking about drinking a cup of coffee before my 5K at the end of the month. Speaking of which, I've got to get back to running soon or I'll never make it, with or without the coffee!

    I'm extremely jealous that you went downhill skiing last weekend. I haven't been since last Christmas, and my skis are currently at my mothers house.
