The Goal Isn't To Be skinny...

... The goal is to get healthy.

Hey there buddies Its time I update this page....

In January I restarted my journey at 240 pounds. It has not been easy. In some cases I have just wanted to toss in that dang sweaty towel, but that dang sweaty towel comes back to me. I've wanted to stop like so many times before. I have wanted to eat everything in my fridge, cupboards, and my sisters candy stash in her bedroom. I didn't want to track my foods. I hated the dang thing. ...

I have wanted to sit for hours in front of the T.V. and zone out on my non- active life. I have wanted to just sit and watch life pass me by, because that is how I bonded with my husband. That's how I bonded with his friends, with my friends.

I have never wanted to work out or go for a walk. I have never wanted to work more then I had to while at work. Movement was minimal if non existent. I hated to move. It hurt mostly.

Now Its the end of May. I weigh 215 pounds thanks to Sparkpeople and my friends!. I have lost 25 pounds in 5 months. I know that is 5 pounds per month, but to be honest I would of lost more if I could stay true to my goals. I still occasionally fail for a week about 1 time a month, but I feel better once I get back on that wagon.

I have lost 25 pounds. I have tracked and weighed my self for the past 5 months. I have had a few plateaus and it had sucked being stuck on them, but I prevailed. I get up early in the morning and I get straight to it. I work out at least 4 times a week and I kick my butt every time. I have to change out the workouts or I don't get anywhere.

I no longer sit at the T.V. and computer for hours on end. I go crazy if I am stuck in the house on my days off. I have to be outside for at least 30 to 60 minuets a day. I have to be in the nice clean air. I cannot let life pass me by anymore. I have to enjoy it! As far as my husband goes... We still bond over video games and movies, but now we actually get out and do things. We walk mostly. He still rather sit on the couch, but he's catching up. :)

And eating??? Well every once in a while its still hard, but I eat a lot healthier then when I first started. I no longer eat too much fried foods, but I prefer broiled, grilled, or steamed. I prefer lost of fruits and veggies compared to tons of heavy sauces and candy.

Its not always easy, but sometimes you just have to do what is better for you. Sometimes you just have to want it bad enough.

WATP is Walk Away The Pounds, short for any of a collection of exercise DVD's by Leslie Sansone. It is a combination of walking in place, sidesteps, kicks, knee lifts, tap outs, kick backs, and various other moves, all of which can be done in a rather small space. She does "mile" long segments which take 12-13 minutes. I like it because there is no equipment needed and I can do it inside out of the weather and mosquitoes. Those little buggers aren't a problem this time of the year, but cold and snowy sidewalks are...

Have a good weekend!

Where we snowshoe we never have problems with wildlife. I suppose even if there is a mountain lion, they see us before we see them. I guess I could carry bear spray, but then we make so much noise that is never a problem. I wouldn't go anywhere very far alone though. Besides, it's so much more fun with friends. If you do snowshoe, have a ball!

Good for you, I'm really glad you're feeling better! Yes I was dressed up for the diva run in Missoula. Lots of fun. I know that those meds can mess with your appetite, hopefully you can get back on track. emoticon emoticon
