Keep reminding yourself- 'I AM WORTH IT!!!!!!!"

Live in San Francisco. Love dancing, reading, working out....

There will be quick updates on my main page, but for the day to day celebrations, struggles, thoughts, musings, tips, strategies, and inspirations, please read my blog! I also try and keep my fitness log up to date if you are curious. ;)

I reach out to tons of folks and invite anyone needing support to contact me- I'll be your cheerleader! I cherish every Sparkmail, blog comment, Sparkpage comment, etc. I will answer every one! However, due to the volume of contact I get, please understand if it takes a couple days to get back to you! I promise I will! :)

A little background on me-
My name is Christy Anne.
I used to be a video workout "whore" about 13-15 years ago, had many many videos and used them religiously. Then life got complicated and my ability to workout suffered- I stayed thin, but was not in "good shape". Then 5 or so years ago, I was getting my body back. I was getting in really great shape and was living a very active life. I got hit by a car and went from walking 6 miles a day and dancing most nights to not being able to move at all! The pounds packed on..and on...and on. I tried to work out as best as I could, but my blown out knee made it difficult. The fact my emotional eating went into overdrive didn't help matters! I was in a knee brace for 3 years, and just this last Feb (2007) I celebrated one year out of it!! :) It has not been easy and they were many nights I cried myself to sleep because of the pain- but I was determined to keep the brace off. Now that my knee is finally healed, it is time to take the weight off! I've had a couple fits and starts, but have gone strongly without stopping since late Dec (there was a pause for the flu)! I am so proud of what I have pushed myself through! I discovered TaeBo in mid Feb, and it has pushed my workouts to new limits. I have also added strength training to my regime fairly recently. I'm enjoying watching my body change.
My initial goal was 40 lbs.
I lost a total of 16, but gained 5 back in March. I didn't freak though because I realized I had been losing too much too fast. I also realized that I was starting to gain muscle while losing fat: the inches were flying off even though the scale did not reflect it and a good portion of my clothes do not fit! I hit a plateu for a couple months but broke it in May and now have lost almost 20 lbs! If this keeps up, I will be happy w/ 25-30 lbs lost w/ a toner, buffer body. I say this because when I worked out 13-15 years ago, I still ate very badly. Sure I was skinny, but I was scrwany and TOO skinny. And no matter how much I worked out, I ALWAYS had belly pooch.
Now that I'm older and wiser, I realize that "too skinny" is not sexy, I'm aspiring to be thin and well toned- buffed! I also have learned that what I do eat matters! With how much sugar and junk I used to eat I'm surprised my belly wasn't bigger, regardless of how often I worked out!!!!!!!!!! So, now I'm trying to educate my self and get my self healthier, weight loss being just a benefit, not the main goal in and of itself.

********UPDATE JAN 08*************
It's been just over a year since I've started my journey. I've had a few setbacks, but keep going strong! Around late summer/early fall, my work schedule exploded and my workouts suffered. I went from 5-6 days a week to 1-3 days a week. Thankfully I've only gained back 6 pounds! I'm really proud of the fact that I've mostly maintained. The goal for '08 is to get my workouts back up to speed! Had a rough start with a flu/cold/cough thing, but I *WILL* do it!
Next month will be my 2 year anniversary out of my knee brace. That is my biggest motivation. Whenever I start to feel down about minor setbacks, I look at how far I've come and what I've fought for! If I can do that, I can do anything! ROAR!!!!!!!! LOL

My eating habits are not perfect, but continue to improve. There is junk food I actually can't eat now. I actually got talked into a McChicken last week, "for time's sake". However, I could only eat 2 bites (actually, I spit the 2nd bite out! YUCK!)! I happily threw it away! This achievement made me feel so good! Though I do admit to an occasional fast food breakfast sandwich. Room for improvement!

And to any of the nay-sayers and saboteurs- my looking and feeling good is the best "revenge"! So There!

Personal Goals (in addition to My Program below)

-Read something inspirational daily

-pack my lunch at least 4 out of 5 days

-eat more fruit!

My Program:
Cleaning up my eating.

My ideal week will have 4 cardio days, 2 strength days, and shorter strength routines added to some cardio days .

I like to mix up my work outs- keeps my body guessing and keeps my mind from getting bored! I do a lot of Tae Bo and mix in salsa inspried routines, straight up old school areobics, step areobics, pilates, yoga, light weights, toning/strength, and whatever else looks interesting.

I try and walk 1-6 miles most days.

I really need to get into my local bikram yoga studio more often. I'm aiming for once a week.
