Hi All: My name is Linda and I found out about SparkPeople from a work associate. I'm so glad to be starting here! I have been fighting my weight for most of my life. Now that I am 56, I've decided to do some major lifestyle changes to lose the weight that will eventually impact my health. I want to live a long, healthy life and be around to see my grandchildren married with children of their own.
Get healthy! Lose fat, get fit, lower my blood pressure (high for the first time in my life), develop healthy habits to sustain me through the rest of my life.
Just getting started here. Right now it's all about making healthy food choices, tracking them, and MOVING every day.
I live in the Sierra foothills near Yosemite National Park. I am a former middle school teacher who now is involved with Court-Appointed Special Advocates. We advocate for foster children in order to get them in permanent placements as soon as possible. I love to garden, spend time with my family, travel, and read. Spain is one of my favorite places on earth. I enjoy practicing my Spanish with anyone who's willing to put up with my mistakes!

Are you feeling like the "lazy days of summer" have arrived??? This week, let's SPARK our fitness! If it is too hot outside to exercise, get moving with an exercise DVD or how about the treadmill or stationary bike Have you thought of going to the gym for some healthy sweat time with zumba or kickboxing? Or perhaps, cool off with swim in the pool Always stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water!!! Let's make this week a HEALTHY one and enjoy those summer days getting fit!

I'm back after being MIA for about a month. Feeling better and ready to get back on track. Thank your message on my wall while I was sick and gone from SP. How are you doing with your journey? ........My nephew's graduation in Vegas turned out really nice and I had a great time. I hope to write my blog about being sick and Vegas trip soon. Start your healthy life now. Learn new healthy habits: walk at least 30 minutes a day, eat more fresh vegetables and fruit, and always, believe in yourself. Getting started is the most difficult part. It is especially important to keep your motivation strong along your journey! When you get used to a healthy lifestyle, it will be easier for you to manage your weight.
Be active and keep yourself moving!
