I have been overweight all my life and have always had very low energy levels, even as a child. When i started first grade the extra weight came with it! And gravity has never been a friend of mine.
Fostering cats and dogs and volunteering for a local humane society while still living in Ky. and being involved in our local Lions Club kept me busy. Now live in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area since 2009 with my wife, Marilyn. She keeps me motivated. We met on Sparkpeople. Now trying to get up and outside to take advantage of all the parks and nature walking trails this area has. Favorite trail is near one of our local Eagles nests we can view and catch a glimpse of their activity.

My Goals:
very simple right now, to just get up and walk more and start my motivation on healthier habits.

My Program:
making sure i get my walking in right now.

Personal Information:
This past fall of 2009 finally moved everything up to the Pittsburgh area to our new home. Still have the Ky home that is for sale, so still going back and forth some. Has been nice to stay put this winter. Of course all the snowfall was a factor as well to stay in PA.

Other Information:
I feel volunteering is a way of giving back. I am proud to belong to the local Lions Club as well as our local Humane Society in the small Ky town I lived in.
Note: Many of the cats you will see in the photo gallery I kept for the Humane Society and if they were not adopted lived a comfortable life with me. Since moving to PA. all but the six I had were adopted out and a few are being fostered with other WCHS members I'm pleased to say. Now have two young cats who were bottle fed siblings and two Dobermans from a rescue organization.

Hi Lee, thanks for the comment on my blog and for the encouragement! I know you asked for the recipes for the taco meat I was gonna make, but I don't want to make this comment ungodly long with lists of ingredients so I'll just leave the links to the sites I found the recipes on.

I haven't made the taco seasoning yet, but this is the recipe I intend to follow: http://www.rachelcooks.com/2011/10/28/home
    made-taco-seasoning/
I think it sounds right based on experiences I've had playing around with spices. If it doesn't look like the sauce is clinging to the meat then I'll probably add about a teaspoon of corn starch. Mine will not include the red pepper flakes because I don't care for spicy taco mix.

And for my guacamole, it's actually a tweaked version of the Chipotle recipe, which I actually have made before. You can find that here: http://chipotle.com/guac-recipe
Last time I made this I left out the jalapeno and added way too much red onion by accident. The cilantro and lime juice seems to be what makes it flavorful enough to add less salt, at least for me.

Also, just have to say the kitty in your profile picture is too adorable. Reminds me of my old cat that I had for 9 years, Casper.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and the best of luck achieving your goals!
