Losing LeCates

Hi, I am 54 and on my way to a lighter version. I started at 272 as my highest weight at 5'7. I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, the Delmarva Peninsula--about 20 minutes from Ocean City. I am a one-on -one special ed. assistant with an autistic boy in a high school. My youngest son attends UMES, a local college. He received a full ride there---only has to pay for books and parking as long as he keeps his grades up. No problem keeping his grades up---last semester he had a 3.8 GPA. ...

He received a full ride there---only has to pay for books and parking as long as he keeps his grades up. No problem keeping his grades up---last semester he had a 3.8 GPA.
I am now team leader for the Empty Nesters---big step for me since I am a little computer challenged. It really seems strange when my son is away---lif e really is different---sometimes good, sometimes not so good.
Tax Day, April 15, 2009---my first grandchild, Reagann Nicole LeCates was born---7 obs 10 oz., 21 inches long , at 12:50 PM. What a wonderful addition to my family---and oh, how proud my son looked holding his newborn infant in his arms---his face just beamed.
I have been meeting a lot of my Spark Friends this summer. I have done several blogs about our escapades. Hoping to meet up with a few more before the summer is over.
Update--Since I last changed this, I have been meeting with local Sparklers---and have started walking in the park on Saturdays regularly with at least one Spark friend. We have had to move into the Mall a couple of times because of the temps or weather--but we do prefer the outside.
Michael just got straight A's for this last semester. This next semester should be interesting as he takes the 2nd cooking class and only has classes on Tuesday, Wednesday , and Thursday for the upcoming semester.
OUr move to our house sure made last year a whirlwind but we have settled in nicely and enjoyed our Christmas with Reagann--the light of our lives. Onward to a New Year.
MAY 2011---WOW, being named motivator of the day is a little overwhelming----I really enjoy Spark a lot and have made so many good friends on here---some of them feel more like family than just internet buddies. And I really needed a kick in the pants to get back on track and this really helps----so you all are motivating me to get back to the basics. My dh being out of work due to surgery has really put me in a tail spin but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel---he goes back to work on the 23----Praise God for that. I want to thank all of you Sparklers for being such a great motivation for me.
UPDATE---I am now 56---LOL---and so glad I have the energy to play and take care of my 2 and a half year old granddaughter. After going thru the crisis of losing a good friend to murder, I now realize even more the importance of friendship---whether it be in person or on the internet. Each of my friends are important to me---all of you keep me motivated , amused, entertained: giving me a reason to support you --hopefully I have helped any of you that have read my blogs or my page. I am truly blessed to by your friend.
2012 update---okay---Michael proposed to his gf---Taylar---who we already love---and today he tells me they are getting married next January-----so I have a year to get in to shape and save up the money for the wedding----so definitely got to get myself in order. I am hoping that 2012 is a much better year than 2011---my leg is starting to feel better and I am slowly building up my strength in it so that I can really get exercising again---it is amazing how much I have missed this the past 6 weeks. So onward I will go---and I will win this war---each battle will be fought--and hopefully I will win more than I lose.
2015---had a rough year in 2014 but have started to turn around the scale to the going down position---that is what I plan on working on this year. My word to concentrate on this year in Kindness---to others and to myself.

My Goals:
I want to get down to 175--that's almost 100 pounds--that's like a whole person--to fit in ladies clothing--to feel better when doing things. I am getting ready to buy ladies size pants now---but the top half is not cooperating.

My Program:
I am not dieting--I am making better choices--a lifestyle change for the better---I get up at 5:30 and either walk a mile and a half, do a Leslie Samsone DVD, or the recumbant bike---after school I go to Curves 3 or 4 times a week---that way I get my metabolism reving 2X a day.

Personal Information:
My birthday is May 10. I am 54 years old and will be married for 31 years this May 20--I have 3 sons--29, 28, and 19. We are partial empty nesters as my youngest attends UMES, which is close enough for him to come home often. I am a special education assistant working as a one-on-one with an Autistic high schooler.

Other Information:
Love to garden, read, do Sodokus, and watch HGTV and TLC. My favorite author is Dick Francis. I love Thomas Kincade pictures. I really am feeling a lot better with 60 lbs gone--I have so much more energy and slowly outgrowing my clothes--that motivates me the most. I love to decorate the outside for summer, autumn and Christmas.--We go crazy at my house decorating both the inside and outside.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, thanks for the goodie you sent me. I think I have finally gotten some of the computer problems I've been having fix or at least not as bad. I've also need to do a lot of research for the native plant nursery the watershed group I belong to is starting. See what I get for being a master gardener, they think I know it all. LOL. I am now only about 20 e-mails behind and still need to post about 15 days of fitness minutes now that I can get the page to work.

I bet it was a long day/night, with 5 games!! There are 2 women who work the ticket table at almost every basketball game at our school, and they've been doing it for a number of years. They do a great job (as I'm sure you do as well) and I think it's neat how they STILL seem to have plenty to chat about in between customers. emoticon

I hope you have a good work buddy, too. Have a happy New Year!!

Thank you for all your support on my blogs, which I always appreciate very much! To answer your question, the office where I worked is closing down, they have bought somewhere new in the South of Paris. There is no office for me there anyway, and if there was, it would be a 3-hours commute every day (minimum), so I am not too sad I must say... I work for the headquarters which are based in England but had my office here in the French office for the last 16 years, so it will be a big change not to see my colleagues every day, even though we didn't work together, only shared the same office space.

But my work will be exactly the same, with lots of travelling, etc. (2 work weeks away only for January). And now I hear so many positive things about working from home it is really helping me to embrace it, and I am even getting excited (I do a job that is very people orientated, with several video conferences and Skype chats every day, even though it isn't 'on the field' all the time, so I am hoping it will help).

Happy New Year to you and yours! Bonne Année ! emoticon
