I am participating in the Fall 5% Challenge. My commitment to exercise is to get at least 10,000 steps a day, 30 minutes of exercise including walking, gardening and strength training. My nutrition plan is a combination of NoS* and SparkPeople's Food Tracker. * No-S Diet: No Sweets, No Snacks, No Seconds, Except (Sometimes) on Saturdays, Sundays and Special Days.

My Goals:
Exercise is NOT a problem for me. Food is where I have problems. I strive to have control over my eating habits with moderation and consistency. Stress and sugar are triggers for me. I have a bad habit of mindless snacking that I am working hard to conquer.

Long Range Goal: 150 lbs. so clothes fit properly and can bend and move without struggle

Medium Range Goal: Lose 1 pound per week
Reward: New Magazine

Daily Goal: Count (up) days of HONEST and ACCURATE food tracking
Daily Reward: Sticker on the calendar

My Program:
No-S guidelines EVERYDAY (not just weekdays). Participating in 5% Challenges and In-Between Challenges.
Minimum 30 minutes exercise, 10,000 steps, arm exercises, and 10 glasses of water daily. Staying in my calorie range with healthy, fresh, whole, and natural foods (not processed). NO snacking!!!

Personal Information:
Retired kindergarten teacher. Love flower gardening, cooking and music (learning to play piano). Getting out for my daily walks is a joy in the sunshine. Not so much joy in cold weather. (Those of you that live in colder climates give me inspiration!) Three grandkids nearby, so they are here often. Those are times I find it hard to stay on track, due to mindless snacking.

    Happy spotlight day! Music is wonderful, isn't it? I used to play the guitar, but stopped and haven't attempted in years. Music is what gets me walking. It seems I am now trying to keep up with you on the fitbit challenges, so glad to be doing those with you. Good luck on the challenge! emoticon

    Hi there - hope you enjoyed your day in the spotlight! I remember having piano lessons as a child as well as learning to play the violin. Music is a great de-stresser - I now attend Rock choir which is great fun! emoticon

    Hope enjoy your emoticon in the Spot emoticon . I started piano lessons when I was 13 for about 3-4 mos. but at that age I was not into playing Twinkle Twinkle little star-end of lessons emoticon emoticon Your orchids are beautiful. Wish I had your talent in growing them. emoticon
