SPARK LOVE

Hi! I am really excited about spark people.com. I have 3 grown children and 4 granddaughters and 3 grandchildren on the way. I had gastric bypass in 2003 and have gained back 50 of the 140 lbs I lost. I look forward to working with the tools on this sight.

“Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights.” ~ Pauline R. Kezer

“Change is difficult but often essential to survival.” ~ Les Brown

These quotes “spoke” to me today - the first because it fits so well with what most of us are working toward “new heights” as we go forward on our Spark journey and in our daily lives. The second really hit me hard - I am facing some serious health issues and change is essential to my survival and to live the life I’ve always wanted.
Let’s continue to support and encourage one another as we embrace the changes we are making in our lives.

"Nothing happens until I make it happen." ~
Scott Wilson

I came across that quote this morning and have been thinking about it ever since. It says so much in just a few words - something we Sparkers need to always remember.
It's time for us to quit making and accepting excuses and "MAKE" our goals happen!

"Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory." ~ Ghandi

Personally, I’ve had several Spark “beginnings,” and “victories.” Right now, I seem to be in the midst of a “struggle phase.” I have a three or four good days and then a loss of control - and I’m right back where I was a few days previously. I read somewhere that one needs to use the words “I don’t” rather than “I won’t” when calling upon their willpower to resist poor choices - so that’s going to be my new saying - “I DON’T NEED TO EAT (insert poor choice here) TODAY!”
I know the most important thing is to not give up on myself so I’m just plodding along on my journey, slowly but never stopping.
I hope all is well with you and that you are making progress.
Sheila
