Creating a Healthy & Fit Lifestyle

My name is Sheila and I live in Virginia with my husband, Fred, and my dog, Max. I am a 60 something who has very recently retired and need to lose 21 lbs. I am learning to take care of myself all over again as with the stress of work I didn't take very good care of myself. I am allergic to wheat & gluten, and did I mention exercise. I am now exercising again. I look forward to learning from all of you as we journey together. Never give up!

Hi Sheila, Thank you for the nice words on my sparkpage. I am hanging in there. I start my radiation treatments tomorrow. 23, 25, 28, 30 & nov 1. then I'm DONE. But, it takes about 6 months to 2 years to heal from this. down the road you could get radiation phneumonia (different from regular phneumonia) your ribs could crack, the radiation kills the tumor but you have to wait for it to shrink and go away. that's the 6 months to 2 years healing process. You also can have swelling inside your body and in your throat. they gave me medicane to take 1/2 hour before each treatment to help with the swelling inside my body, their's so much more you can get but also might not get. These are things that can happen. now, the swelling does happen and you also get very tired and weak from each treatment and it gets worse as you get to the end of radiation. This is why I'm so scared of radiation. I have had a fear of radiation all m y life because I knew when people had to have radiation that meant the cancer will spread and you will die. I've been told different these past couple months, but I'm still scared. So, I will keep you and everyone else informed of whats going on ok? Thank you for your prayers and how much you care. SHER
