Distractions are a bit tricky. I would go play air hockey, shopping, call friends and family and such. All depends on what you like to do and what gets your attention. I like to people watch so going to a public place like a bar, mall or where ever was distracting to me. Just have to be careful we do not switch to unhealthy distractions or use them long term. They are more for the short term to help you adjust and realize what great things you can do and how much funny living healthy can be.
I now love my running and it is my distraction but really just something i love doing and am glad to be able to do it. Challenging myself is a great distraction but is now my hobby. Transitioning into this way of life so that the thing you get to do and can do are also things you do to be happy and healthy.
Shopping at farmer's markets, running races, trying new exercises and classes, sharing with others, sharing with your kids and all just becomes part of your life and who you are. So much to do and try and only a lifetime to do them. I guess life is my big distraction now and living it as much as I can. 1703 days ago
Sounds like you have a good plan thus far - preparing foods in advance. You'll find lots of creative ideas from other members here on how they do that. I make a big batch of a casserole, for example, and store in one serving containers. Soups are also great make-ahead items. I have many in my freezer. If you still have electricity at the one house, a crock pot is all you need to make soups and other healthy items.
