Some major changes since I started this page in 2010!

About Me:
My name is Heather. I'm 30 years old. Married to my high school sweetheart, Jacob. Stay-At-Home Mom to 2 beautiful kids, Aidan, 5, and Gigi, almost 3. I had a miscarriage in March 2010, between the births of my kids. We have moved from my husband's native North Carolina to Texas... talk about different worlds!

My Weight Struggle:
I started struggling with my weight in elementary school. I'd broken my legs a few times, was holding all of my baby fat getting ready for a growth spurt & my family decided I was fat & lazy, so I should be on a diet & locked outside to exercise. That set me up to believe I was fat & I just accepted it. I started the habit of secretly eating/eating when I was upset. In middle school, I figured out I was going to be a curvy girl, I was happy & my weight evened out. When I started high school I moved with my mom to a few different places & I had some problems with an abusive relationship, kicking off the eating and depression again. During high school I started my first job where I ate late at night, mostly ate fast food, & didn't have time for anything but work - I packed on 50lbs in 4 years. I put on more weight after that, but I was at my heaviest after the birth of my son in 2009.

The Last Couple Years of Craziness:
During my pregnancy with Gigi, & for about 6 months postpartum, I lost 60lbs. I was thrilled! I was so close to my goal. Shortly thereafter we moved & my ability to be active dropped dramatically. I gained back almost all of that weight. I was so discouraged and depressed, I just did my best to ignore it instead of dealing with it. Part of the depression & not being able to deal with it was because of some family tragedies & illness - we lost our niece (that I babysat) Anabella Grace to SIDS in December 2012, I spent Feb/March 2013 so sick I couldn't move (right when I had really started my fitness journey), we lost my mother-in-law to cancer in July 2013, & we currently each have grandparents in health crises.

Basically, weight & a healthy lifestyle have always been a struggle for me for one reason or another. I need to commit myself to getting healthier & losing the weight. Watching so many horrible things happen to my family makes it more important than ever to do this for myself, my husband, & our kids.
