Non-Traditional Law Student wants to lose weight in non-traditional ways

Originally from Georgia for 25-30 years, then from Florida for 15 years or so, before re-locating to Northern California in April 2010.

Working as a manager in casual dining and family style restaurants, it was easy not to care about how many calories were in the fried cheese sticks, or the grilled steak, or the biscuits and eggs with gravy. Working as a manager in casual dining and family style restaurants, it was easy not to care about how many calories were in the fried cheese sticks, or the grilled steak, or the biscuits and eggs with gravy. It was easier to just grab something familiar, fast, and fried. Looking back, that was my downfall. It became a habit. The food was there and required very little thought to choose my meal. Even after I injured my back, which is when the weight really started piling on, the comfort of knowing that a quick meal was always at my fingertips gave me solace (and a spare tire around my middle).

Then, there came the 3000 mile journey to Northern California to contemplate attending law school. Less 3 months later, I sat in a class opening my first ever law book. Getting out of class at 9:30pm or 9:40pm, is really hard when I am starving. I knew there would be no "healthy" food in the fridge at home. Well, nothing healthy that appealed to me to eat it at that moment - especially when I came craving a juicy cheeseburger. Therefore, I solved that problem and grabbed cheeseburger (or two) and fries to eat at home on the sofa in front of the TV. No exercise, no movement, just lounging around consuming take-out food.

This behavior led me to where i am now - knocking on the door of being over 300 hundred pounds . . . I WILL NOT LET THAT HAPPEN. With this site as my inspiration, and my friend as my motivation (she is also on here), I can do it this time. I can make positive changes that will carry me through into my golden years without this extra luggage around my waist.
