When you first start eating low carb, there is a transition period. Your body feels like it is going through withdrawal symptoms when you stop eating sugar and other starchy foods. It can feel pretty yucky. It usually hits on day three, and can last a little longer. For me, I had a horrible headache on day three, and felt a bit queasy and tired for the next couple of days. After that, I felt great! Some people say that your potassium gets severely depleted during this time. Using a potassium based salt substitute *might* help with the symptoms. I didn't know that when I started, so I didn't try it. Of course, too much potassium can be very dangerous, so be careful not to get too much.

If you are going low carb, have you read any of the books? I am not following a specific plan, but I have really researched and read all the books, so I have a really good idea of what works. I suggest you find a plan you like or at least read as much as you can to make sure you understand it well.

Good luck and let me know if you need more info!

Laurie
