Learning a New Way of Living One Small Choice at a Time!

I'm Learning:
To eat wisely
The word "enough"
To enjoy exercise.

I've attempted to learn this many times before, and SparkPeople feels like it could be the place where I will get this lesson learned, at last! One key difference is that SP has shifted my focus from weight loss (deprivation) to healthy living (an inviting goal).

My Goals:
I started this journey at 269.2 pounds on November 19, 2009, before I discovered SP. When I first joined SP I was down to 255. I found some real success here for a while, then fell off the wagon, went MIA and regained what I had lost. But I'm back, and committed to stay the course. I want to break through the 200 barrier into the 100's ("Onederland"); then I'll set a new goal, probably around 145.

My Mantra: One small choice at a time.

REMINDERS to myself:
"Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!"

If hunger is not the reason, then eating is not the solution.

"The journey IS the destination. " -MEZZOANGEL

Listen to the food VOICE, not the food Noise. - Bethenny Frankel

1 pound body fat = 3500 calories... It ALL adds up (one way or another)!

When motivation is lacking, DO IT ANYWAY and the motivation will find me!

My Program:
~ Monitor daily food intake. Stay in my min/max range (calories, carbs, fat, protein) and pay attention to where the calories are coming from.

~ Include cardio (in small "bites") in my daily routine, using variety to keep it fresh and fun.

~ Do a little cardio EVERY day, EARLY in the day to jump start my metabolism.

~ Strength training 3 days per week.

This is just an interim goal (final goal may be around 145), and Ill determine what feels right as I approach that point. That goal is still far away, but I want to make sure I have a plan in place to ensure that goal sticks once I reach it, so
My Maintenance Plan:
Continue tracking nutrition and fitness daily for the rest of my life. Continue daily cardio plus strength training 3 days per week. Weigh daily, and if my weight drifts up to 3 pounds over my goal weight for a week, then do a Fast Break to bring it back down to stable goal weight again.

Personal Information:
I'm Laura, a 60 year old single mom in Arizona. I have two adult children, and want to make sure I stay around to see their lives come into full blossom. And I want to know their children (my grandchildren) whenever they come along, and to be healthy enough to run around and play with them.

I feel like I've finally discovered the tools and community here to help me make this a permanent lifestyle change. Thank you SparkPeople!

Other Information:
Favorite book title: "The Answer to 'How?' is YES!"

That's my personal operating system.

Well, hello, How are YOU?? Ya keeping busy? I am. In middle of book edit for author who lives in UK. LOL, they spell things funny! I started it monday, I'll finish tomorrow night, only 27,000 words, but he's liking my work a lot, he has many other books to edit too. He wants me to do them all so he can make money!

Today was day 56 on Keto, I've been doing good, weight loss has slowed down, but I haven't been exercising enough, I had begun to do more for about 10 days, and then I sprained my foot this past Monday. So I only walked yesterday 10 min. I won't walk tonight. Maybe tomorrow. Who knows? I have photos where I can pull the side away from my body about 7 inches (double that) from my hips, when a year ago it was skin tight. ALL my clothes are about two sizes too big.

Another 15 lbs, and I'll have to either shop at Goodwill or buy some new clothes. BUT, I really don't wear much clothes during summer, since my job is on computer??? Why get dressed, I stay in my cool slip or cami n underwear. It's only me here anyhow. Who cares, The UPS and FedEx guys think I'm in a swimsuit...LOL I alwasy say, Oh glad you caught me, I was just heading over to the pool! My swimsuit is two sizes too big now too! emoticon

Lauraaaaaa!!!! Day 26, lost another 1/2 pound even though I've been absolutely perfect at 70-25-5% ratios. Today I couldn't have my Fat Bomb because my friend bought me a $20.00 "small" slice of Roasted Garlic cheese. It was of course very awesome. That upped my calorie total, so if I had the fat bomb, then I'd be 479 over 1300 calorie goal. So, boo hoo!
Tomorrow, I WILL have one!

I have a NEW Fat Bomb that I think you are going to LOVE--Think of an Almond Joy candy bar! I haven't made it yet, but I will this Friday. DH leaves for California on Saturday morning at 3am and will be gone through next wednesday night, so I am going to really do some trail walking on the river up at the end of Power Road, North of Mesa. Going to take my chihuahua in a baby front wrap. That'll add 14.5 lbs to my weight I'll have to carry, but he will like it and have fun. Poor Paco has bad knees, but I'll let him walk until he stops and sits. That's what he does when he's had enough. Funny, but sad too.

Had to go back in and edit spaces between link addresses...Oy!
