This is It

Hey everyone! I'm a college student trying to beat the freshman twenty once and for all. Hopefully this will help me reach my goals, get in shape, and understand how to balance a healthy diet with the college lifestyle.

I tend to have "fitness phases," a few months at a time where I'm really good about exercise and healthy eating, but inevitably that ends and my weight goes back up. This time, I'm doing it for real.

Hey everyone! I'm a college student trying to beat the freshman twenty once and for all. Hopefully this will help me reach my goals, get in shape, and understand how to balance a healthy diet with the college lifestyle.

I tend to have "fitness phases," a few months at a time where I'm really good about exercise and healthy eating, but inevitably that ends and my weight goes back up. This time, I'm doing it for real.

That being said, it's important to me that I can still do things like go out to dinner with friends, or enjoy a night out. I don't want to sacrifice that time because of a calorie obsession. I'm entering my senior year, I don't want to spend it sitting at home eating celery every night!

My Goals:
At my last doctor's appointment before I started college, I weighed 119. It's time to work off all those nights out and junk food binges, and get myself back to where I started.


My Program:
Cardio 6 days a week:
I started the beginning runner's training program on runnersworld.com. I've always wanted to be able to run long-distance, and hopefully I'll be doing a solid 30 minutes in a few weeks.

2 mile run - completed 6/25/08
Now I'll be working up to 3!

Nutritionally, I plan my day in advance, as much as possible. The challenge is finding ways to work in dinners and nights out with friends. The more I keep at it, the easier it is. Hopefully it just keeps getting better from here!
