Starting a new life phase

Although I have been a member of Sparkpeople for several years I have not been very active this last year. July of 2012 I retired after working for 40 years. So, this past year I have spent little time on a computer. However, despite trying to exercise and watch what i eat I haven't made much progress in the weight-loss journey. I do have a very active and encouraging sister so it's time to get back into a routine.

I do have a very active and encouraging sister so it's time to get back into a routine.
Since retiring I have continued to make quilts and last year added making teddy bears for our church ministry of Prayer Bears. Our small church group has made over 650 bears in the last 15 month and continue to make bears weekly. My quilting/sewing time has also inceased so currently I am working on 4 quilts. I hope to soon post some of my recent quilts.
Retirment is an adventure.

I've had several years of on and off spark. I am 67 years old with a partner, Bob. I have lost 20 pounds over the last four years but I have 15 more to go to my goal weight. Write me back--I think we might have things in common and we could encourage each other through this weight-loss emoticon journey.

Hi sister,

Thanks for the comment on the blog. I think I'm going to back this with some fabric I have that I'll have to piece a bit but goes with some of the stuff used on the front. Unless, of course, you have a great suggestion.

I did enjoy the machine applique and evening the lettering that you can't see in the photo but now the machine is broken. Will get er fixed but in the meantime can use the Janome Dee gave me. I've got another cut and ready to put together. Black & White with a blast of color - orange of course. I'll share soon!!

Hi Linda,

emoticon ....GOOD FOR YOU!!!
For somebody that hasn't been running, you did great in the Clocktower - congrats on being in the winner's circle! I hope to see you soon, too. I started again on the treadmill last night, this stopping and starting is not good, and I'm not losing weight either....maybe one day I will quit being my own worst enemy!
So, if I can stick with it from this point forward, I may do the Roman Rumble, and hope you will, too. Keep up the great work and keep on enjoying your retirement. Its great that you are keeping so active and healthy. See you soon!
Ellen

Hi Linda - How exciting that you are retiring! I'm really envious and know you will love it! A lot of people my age (and younger) have retired from the state and I keep thinking that it would be so much fun. We went up the Blue Ridge Parkway for a couple of nights this weekend and what kept running through my mind was I wanted to KEEP ON GOING NORTH! It was so cool and colorful up there. OH well, I've got to get back to it, and know you will too - at least until July. Take care of yourself and I'm glad that you have such a significant milestone to look forward to!
Ellen
