I'm Diane, also known as Rissa. I am on disability for bipolar and other issues. I'm not ashamed of it- I'm proud! I work hard to overcome my issues and I do want to go get my Master's or a Nursing Practictioner degree and go back to work. I went to USC and graduated! I'm proud of that, too!

I try and walk or bike at least a couple miles a day with my latest record being 7.71 miles in a day! I can't wait until I can run again.. I used to run Cross-Country and was doing 5k's on hills in 33 minutes. I live in Los Angeles where I grew up.

I managed to maintain my weight in 2016, but in the 230's. My goal in 2017 will be to see the scale go down and stay down. I'm going to walk more, and want to finally do an official 5k. I'm going to sign up for a Suicide Prevention 5k and complete that on 11/4/17! I'm training with an old Cross-Country friend!

I can't see Onderland, but I want to get there by my birthday in February. I was stuck in the 230's for over a year, getting as low as 231 and as high as 239, but doing the Ketogenic diet I have lost 17+ pounds and now I'm in the low 220's.

I am in the Cloverleafs for the Fall 5% Challenge, and they have motivated me and helped me get into the low 220's and hopefully by the end of the Challenge I will be finally under 211 again which was my lowest weight in 2014. My highest weight was in the 280's, so I have lost over 60 pounds with Spark People!

My Goals:
I would like to be in the 160 pound range, and to be able to run a 5k again. I'm due to walk one in November 2017! My ultimate goal is to run a marathon.


My Program:
I started the Ketogenic Diet on 4/20/17 at over 241 pounds. As of 9/30 I'm at 221.6! No sugar, extremely limited carbs (20 a day), and high fat. I have a fatty liver, and this was recommended to me by my doctor. I also was borderline diabetic, but my A1c dropped from 5.7 to 5.3 in a month of my diet. It really does work!

    Thank you so much for the beef stroganoff recipe. I'm going to try it this weekend.

    Things have been very stressful on my end; that is why I haven't been on Spark very much. I can't talk about it because it concerns my young daughter (bullying issue) and I don't want this on the internet. :(

    I owe you a recipe; but I don't remember which one. Let me know, please.

    Great accomplishment, Rissa! That's when I know I'm doing well...when I start fitting into smaller clothes or my clothes start fitting better, even if I'm not losing pounds. What a great feeling!! emoticon emoticon I, on the other hand, have not had any major accomplishments this round of the challenge. I didn't gain overall, but did gain back what little I'd lost at the start. It's a tough time of year for me for motivation, especially with the rain and cold, and stresses of the holiday season. I'm not sure I'll do the Winter Challenge, but if I do, I hope to see you around!

    I can't say I have had any accomplishments this challenge. Once the weather starts to change, I stop caring. Fall and winter are pretty hard times for me. I am glad I have this group to at least keep me motivated. Congrats on your accomplishments, you're doing fantastic!

    Hi Rissa - Hope Thanksgiving weekend has been great emoticon I'm with you, and plan to restart and refocus after Thanksgiving is over. We did the holiday at my husband's grandparents' house. Then Friday, I cooked a big meal for just us and the kids, with turkey and the whole nine yards. Now I plan to use leftovers for some healthy soups and meals in the upcoming week.
