Xmas 2005- what a difference these 40 lbs. have made!
LANEYSNANA is a SparkPeople Motivator!
I have been Sparking away the last couple of months. Life was been so busy, I didn't change my Sparkpage! Time flies when you're having fun....
I am working out daily with a personal trainer, with curcuit and strength training. My cardio is 75 minutes of a self developed program that is a combo of streching, walking and jogging. It works for me, so I plan to continue using it. I am also on the Quickfire Team. The bursts of exercise through the day have helped me in several ways. I will do a set of the quickfire exercises when I am stressed or bored at work. It releaves my tension, and keeps me from grazing. It also adds addtional exercise that is easy to fit into my busy schedule.
I still am not addicted to exercise. I'm waiting for some type of rush or endorphine. Regardless, I am still exercsing everyday. My goal is still to be healthy- not skinny. The weight loss is an added bonus.
My weight loss had slowed as I get near my goal weight, but the inches are still coming off quickly. As of my check-up last month, my BMI is in the high end of the normal range, but the best news was that my fasting blood sugar was normal! The office workers were amazed when I walked in for my appointment. They didn't recognize me. My doctor said he was very proud of me for my hard work, and very pleased with my progress. (Nowhere near as pleased as I am!)
To anyone who happens upon my page and is wondering if Spark will work for you--- I know that it can. I am proof. You can do it! Believe in yourself. You are soooo worth it!
Love to all my Sparkfriends! Keep on Spark'n.....
And so Month 2 Begins....
What a month January 2009 was for me! I finally decided to make myself a priority- for the first time ever in my life.
It has been a learning experience.
I've learned that my body doesn't move as well as it did when I was 20, nor does it seem to recover as quickly as it did either.
I've learned that my body does appreciate healthy food and exercise. I have so much more energy and my skin is clear. An added benefit --I must go shopping! I need some smaller clothes for work. I won't be buying a lot; I don't plan to wear them that long.
I've learned stress eating doesn't alieve my stress. After the chips and chocolate. the stress is still there, I just weight more. However, exercise will relieve stress. This may be the most important life coping skill I've learned.
I've learned that a huge amount of weight loss quickly is not healthy even if you are eating healthy and exercising. You still must give your body the fuel it needs if you wish for it to be healthy.
I've learned that eating healthy and exercising doesn't mean I can't enjoy food. I have the ability to eat out and go to parties and still eat healthy. It's all about educating and preparing. I can do this the rest of my life!
A wonderful thing that I've learned from Spark is you can still help others. You can reach out and touch another person's life- even if you never meet them and it's through the internet. The support and encouragement I've received from my fellow Sparkers has over-whelmed me. I am grateful and blessed! In turn I am doing my best to reach out to any and everyone else I can to help them through their journey. Yes- I am doing my best to pass the Spark on!
Thank you my fellow Sparker friends. You are a wonderful group of people and you each deserve all out of life that you desire. It is my prayer daily that you each feel the strength of God's love for you. Through him, all things are possible.
Ok so I'm not running or even jogging but I am walking and I've done it 28 days in a row. No lame cold weather excuse or my body hurts.... which it does and in places I'd forgotten were on it.
I don't like exercise and I never have. Through teen years of sports, and young adult years of running 5-7 miles a day, I never became "addicted" to exercise. I've never felt an endorphin rush, and I've often told my exercising friends that a good piece of chocolate would give them a a feeling better then anything that makes you sweat. The sports I played because I enjoyed the game day part; the running was, of course, to control my weight.
But walking I am, in combination of staying within my calorie range, and drinking all of my water. This morning I stepped on the scales for the first time since beginning on Jan3. It said I weighed 5.5 lbs less. So I got off and reweighed..VICTORY!!! The scales said the same thing!
It may well be all water or probably a combination of the water loss as well as the difference in calories. Whatever it is, I'm claiming it and celebrating!
I'm not through but I'm on my way. One step at a time.
Thanks for stopping by..

Hello from Central Texas! I live in a small town full of friendly people- not too far from our State Captial of Austin (Hook'em Horns!). Born a 6th generation of the area, I moved away for awhile but I finally made my way back home. I love this place and the people here!
I am blessed to have a wonderful husband, children, and grandchild. Love those son and daughter-in-laws too.
Life is good!
I believe we each have the ability to enpower others through support and postive reinforcement.
You can never have too many friends and I always welcome more.
