Just Because

Jan 4, 2012. almost 73. Got my weight under control finally. At 130 pounds I feel about right. Had left knee TKR done two weeks ago. Therapy is difficult but not optional. Don't use walker or cane, but walk very slowly. This is the year for change. Hopefully it'll all be for the better. I may opt to lose 5 more pounds but it's not a priority.

July, 2011. Well over 72 now. My knees have given out on me. A double knee replacement growls from the near future. Not able to exercise anymore. Bummer. Still battling the same twenty pounds. This time I'm counting calories. Trying to keep under 1000 a day. I'm using the calculator on fitday.com. It helps keep track.

November, 2008. Just a blink away from age 70. Still battling the same 20 pounds. It goes, it comes, some of it goes, some of it comes and some of it stays... Seems to be waging the same battle year after year.

2007: As I creep up the sixty ladder, sixty-eight seems younger than it did twenty years ago. It seems to me these extra twenty pounds I'm carrying need to go. I am as active as my knee joints permit, but more can be done. Hope this is the place to learn new ways to be active.

My Goals:
maintain muscle while losing fat. Lose 15-20 pounds by July, 2009.

My Program:
Went from 9 years faithfully on Atkins, well, 8 faithful and successful years, the 9th year I tweaked and gained while tweaking. Now I'm trying Food combining ala Susanne Sommers method, still learning the program. I've added fiber to my diet and that's helping keep me on track.

Personal Information:
Lane in Illinois, Mom but no grandchildren. Jazzercise 5 days a week, adjusting to accomodate my bad knees. Creating for myself a very high fiber version of food combining. Love movies, reading, knitting, socializing with girlfriends. At 69 I'm more aware of the value of friendships than ever before.

Other Information:
Will think about this and add info later...

Hi and welcome to the Knee/Hip Replacement Team! Come on by our page and check in on the Daily Update. We have a lot of great information and help if you are facing knee replacements. My right bionic knee will be a year old on 7/26. We're "waiting" on the left knee. Louise
