I did several short distance (sprint) triathlons back in 2006 and 2007 and I was in the best shape ever then! A knee injury that my doctor could not figure out sidelined me and I gained weight, lost muscle, and just generally got out of shape. :(

But now that I joined SP, I'm on the right track. I started with walking, and I've expanded to 30DS and the C25K. I got new running shoes and I'm taking piroxicam for my knee and icing it religiously. So far it is holding up and I'm really hopeful that if I train carefully I'll be able to work up to a 5K run.

Sprint triathlons are generally a few hundred meters swim, then ~20 K bike, then a 5 K run. Now I just have to get back in swimming and biking shape, too! The tri season is winding down, but I figure if I can get my running and swimming down in the next couple of months, then I will have time to work on my biking before the season starts up again in March.

Update: I've been off the piroxicam for a week and my knee is holding up. I registered for a 5K in November. I'm taking a Triathlon Swim Training class at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center starting 10/3! Woohoo!
