Been living with kidney disease since 1992.
Did dialysis for 4 months in '94, then received a kidney transplant from my brother Brian on October 31,1994....WHAT A GUY!!!
The transplant failed after 12 years of "freedom" and I have been back on the dialysis treatments since Sept. 2006.
I joined SparkPeople thanks to BLUESKY104-- my sister's urging and love all the knowledge, tools, and support that exists.
I strive to stay as strong and healthy as possible and am VERY fortunate I can do my hemodialysis treatments in my home
I love going for walks and discovering nature everyday with 3 dogs--Treasure, Puddles & Biscuit!
I enjoy reading, playing the piano and the warmth of many of my close family members. Oh yeah, and did I say I loved dogs?
HAVE A MORE VARIED EXERCISE ROUTINE.
EAT A VARIETY OF VEGGIES, FRUITS & PROTEINS.
iNCREASE FIBER INTAKE.
tRY NEW THINGS!!!!!
PRACTICE DEEP BREATHING DAILY
I HAVE A WALKING DVD WITH 4 DIFFERENT TYPES OF WALKS.
INCLUDE 3 STRENGTH ROUTINES EACH WEEK
TRACK FOOD TO VISUALLY SEE IF I AM GETTING THE AMOUNTS OF FRUITS, VEGGIES, PROTEIN & FIBER MY BODY NEEDS
READ NEW RECIPES TO TRY AND ACTUALLY MAKE THEM TO VARY MY DIET.
Main exercise is WALKING WITH 2 PUPPY DOGS.. TREASURE & PUDDLES and working at my Dad's sawmill (lots of fun)
FIND TIME TO LAUGH EACH DAY, LIVE IN THE NOW, try to MAKE my MOMENTS MEMORABLE
I AM FROM THE UPSTATE NY AREA.
I have a strong interest in the subject of feng shui.
(IF ONLY I COULD INCORPORATE THE PRINCIPLES INTO MY DAILY EXISTENCE.)
I also love to learn new things about trying to eat to beat illness and feel strong.
