Nope - my son was a "Hollywood Marine" doing boot camp at San Diego. He knew he would be in Aviation when he went in, but wasn't sure which MOS. He ended up as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighter Specialist. He felt very fortunate, because this MOS is highly sought after. (Although now they are talking about eliminating it, so if he decides to re-enlist he'll probably have to go into something else.) He landed a 3-year assignment at Kaneohe Bay, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. (He kind of lives a charmed life!) Because of his location, it's most likely he won't be deployed. And by the time he's done there, his 4-year enlistment will be over with. He married his college sweetheart over spring break, and now they are living in on-base housing. I used to work for an airline, so we could visit for free - it's paradise. The downside is that it's too expensive for him to come home on leave, and 3 years is a long time!
