I am 56 years old. I am happily married to my best friend and I am the mother of 3 beautiful daughters. All 3 of my daughters are grown and have families of their own. I also have 6 gorgeous grandchildren. I do have numerous health issues. Since starting with sparkpeople on May 9, 2016 I have lost 30 lbs and have now begun to walk again. I am currently up to 1/3 of a mile and my goal is to walk 1 mile by hubby's birthday March 2, 2017. and to lose a total of 140 lbs by my birthday next year September 8, 2017

Update: December 18,2017 It has been a whirlwind of a year with lots of ups and downs. I did get up to 4 miles but had a major setback. They found an aneurysm in my brain and put in a stent. Once that healed I had to go on major blood thinners because the artery was trying to collapse. I also had a TIA causing some issues with my right side. I have had ups and downs with my weight due to medication but I am still trying. I am still not using white flour, white rice or salt. I do not follow any certain diet just one that my doctor and I decided on together. In 2018 I am striving to lose at least 30 pounds.

Update: December 30, 2016 I walked a total of 3 miles today!! Not all at once but all in one day. Woohoo! Almost there! and 2 months early.
Update: December 8, 2016 I have been walking now since September and currently have walked 2.5 miles. I am definitely going to walk 5K on February 12th.

2. Be able to wear my wedding and mothers rings again - DONE
3. Get out of the wheelchair for good - DONE
4. Walk 5k with family and friends - 2/12/17 DONE
5. Earn 5 charms for my bracelet in 2017 (1 charm for every 10 lbs lost)
6, Walk without the aid of a cane - In progress
7. Take my grandchildren to the park and play with them - DONE
8. Watch each of my grandchildren graduate

My Program:
2017 Summer 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment:

Cardio: Seated Aerobics & Seated Zumba
60 minutes 7 days a week
Walk every day for at least 60 minutes
For a total of 120 minutes per day 7 days a week

Personal Information:
I love to bake, do crafting, reading and one of my newest hobbies is coloring which I can sit and do for hours and of course spending time with my family. I have also found that I look forward every day to my "me" time when I do Qi Gong. It not only helps me burn calories but it also relaxes all my muscles so i can sleep better.

Other Information:
Sept 2, 2016 I had to have brain surgery to place a stent in my brain due to a rather large brain aneurysm. It set me back on my timetable for what I want to accomplish. But I survived and am getting stronger every day.
The three things I am most grateful for are:
1. Jesus dying on the cross for me.
2. My family
3. Friends
