Sneaking Up On 40

I am bound and determined to get my weight under something resembling control by the time I hit 40... starting again now. I've been as high as 260 and as low as 185. Been hovering around the 200-mark for a few years now. No more excuses. Let's do this!

My current motivation... An upcoming vacay to California in August. It's amazing how much motivation the thought of hotties on the beach can be. Especially if you want to be one of the forementioned hotties! ;)

My current motivation... An upcoming vacay to California in August. It's amazing how much motivation the thought of hotties on the beach can be. Especially if you want to be one of the forementioned hotties! ;)

A few facts:

*I'm 38 and have been "fat", "overweight", "chubby", "fluffy" my entire life. In fact, the doc put me on my first "diet" when I was 3 months old.

*Was diagnosed a couple years ago with Charcot Marie Tooth disease. Its a progressive, genetic, demyelinating disease for those of you who don't know. So far, I'm still active and doing well. Determined not to let it get it down or take over my life. I'm also detemined to get my weight under control before it takes away my mobility. Poo on you, CMT! I do, however, want a handicapped parking thingie. Figure if I have to have this, might as well get something out of it. Oooh, and I want to start driving the little cart thingers at Walmart! Vroom!

*Was diagnosed at the same time as a type II diabetic. Nothing like being kicked when you're down, eh?

*I don't let the diagnoses upset me. A doctor who was talking to me about the CMT once before I was "officially" diagnosed was shocked that I was joking about it. She was saying "you realize how serious this is, right?" I said "look, if I don't have it... great. If I do, I can't change it, so why should I get all upset about it?" She said that was a great attitude to have. It's kind of my motto for everything. Change the things I can and don't sweat the other stuff.

*I have an 14-year old son at home, who's getting... ahem, chubby. Don't want to see him go down this same road. Trying to set a better example.

*Live in southeastern Iowa. Depending on the season, it could be considered southeastern hell or southeastern Siberia. Dream of moving to the city. What city? I don't care.
