I'm getting on board w/ Sparkpeople after a long hiatus. The first time, it helped me a lot; I lost about 20 lbs and it stayed off. Now I'm here to lose another 20.

I think my body is beautiful the way it is. I know that the BMI is a load of crap for someone like me and that in order to be my "ideal weight", I'd have to be unhealthy. But I am overweight. I just want to be a little lighter, a little more mobile. So I'm aiming to get down to and maintain about 160 lbs.

Another ongoing goal I have is to love my body. The metabolism and weight issues I experience seem to be connected with stressful events and changes. Working to lose the weight will not just be about changing diet or exercising more. It will also be about learning to take care of my body and not let it become a repository for stress.

I would welcome any comments from people who are or have been in similar situations, or who have always lived outside of the "ideal" BMI for their height and have found ways to accept their own body's ideal range.

My Goals:
My initial goal is to get below the "200 plateau". (I DID IT!!! Next goal: Get below 195. Baby steps.)

My ultimate weight loss goal is to get to 150 lbs and to acquire the ability to maintain that weight despite stressful events and change.

I am trying not to see the weight loss as the ultimate focus, however; rather, weight loss will help toward more important goals like:

-being able to dance through 3 songs without getting tired

-dressing like a fashionista

-being able to sit in a tiny NYC restaurant and get up from my seat without nearly knocking the neighbor's drink over

-make life better in the long run for my joints, heart, etc.

My Program:
Monitoring calorie and nutrient intake; adding a multivitamin to my diet; tracking my exercise regimen and finding ways to make exercise a priority; allowing myself the privilege to pamper my body with occasional massages, meditation and the like.

Personal Information:
I'm a west coaster now living on the east coast. Still have a thing for the Pacific and always will.

Other Information:
I love the outdoors, the arts, indy movies, dark and macabre stuff, anthropology.

Welcome & Hello Maria,

Good to have you with us here at Love To Cook and on any other teams you desire to be on........I'll help you through your journey if you need it. I'm here to support and encourage you forward. If you fall back, I'm here to catch you and show you the right direction if need be.

I'll try to be supportive to you and to encourage you on the journey you are taking. I'll be along side you to your goal(s) and all the way. And to you good luck and to take 1 day at a time. Take advantage of what Spark has to offer. I would like to see you accomplish the goal(s) you have and I'm there for you too.
Stay focused and have a positive attitude, b/c those will help you in the long way............... It's good to meet and have you with us.

To STAY MOTIVATED I DO THIS ALL THE TIME:::
1) come in and read the posts
2) read and join any teams that you think you like
3) get it know the people
4) read some articles
5) most of all :: have fun and enjoy yourself
You are doing great, making progress every time you come in.

If there is anything that I can do to help, give me a holler. If I do not know the answer, I will find it. Our leaders are really great and help when you need it too. So don't hesitate to ask. That is why they are here.

Don't give into your temptations. They are bad and will set you back. You want to move forward, have good habits (like eating your veggies, fruits) and come in here. We all are here for you and other members too
